As we move through August, I hope everyone is taking time to enjoy everything that makes North Castle so great. Whether you’re spending time with family and friends enjoying our parks, or dining at one of our local restaurants, there are still plenty of opportunities to make the most of the summer season.
Summer Concert Series
One of my favorite summer traditions in North Castle is the Armonk Chamber of Commerce’s music concert series. I encourage everyone to join your neighbors for an evening of fresh air and lively music. August performances include School of Rock Bedford House Band on Wednesday, August 19 and Monday’s Best featuring Sarah Browne on Wednesday, August 26, 2026 in Armonk Square. On Thursday, August 27, Tramps Like Us will be performing at Wampus Brook Park. All concerts are held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. so grab some delicious local eats and enjoy an evening of music with friends.
Town Updates
I am pleased to share that renovations to the Town Pool will begin once the current pool season comes to an end. The renovation project came in under budget and a contract has been awarded to the successful bidder. I am excited to move forward with these improvements and look forward to providing our residents with an improved pool facility for the 2027 pool season and beyond.
Our Highway Department is in the middle of milling and repaving season. On Monday, August 17, Maple Avenue will be milled and repaved as part of our ongoing efforts to improve our roads and infrastructure. In addition, work will include the repaving of the North Castle Community Center parking lot in North White Plains. We appreciate everyone’s patience while this important work is underway. Please make sure you are signed up for the Nixle Alerts so you can receive notifications and stay up to date on road work, closure and other important information happening throughout the Town.
The Parks and Recreation fall brochure is expected to be released at the end of this month. Be on the lookout for the new brochure, which will feature a wonderful variety of programs and activities for residents of all ages.
Volunteer to Serve on a Board and Committee
I want to thank the residents who have submitted volunteer applications for the open and upcoming vacancies on our various Boards and Committees. Once an application is submitted online, my office will reach out to schedule an interview meeting with the Town Board. These interview meetings are held during the Executives Sessions, which occur on the same nights as Town Board meetings. Boards and Committees with open or anticipated opening are Architectural Review Board, Landmark Preservation Committee, Library Board, Technology Committee, Open Space Committee and Parks and Recreation Advisory Board. If you are interested in becoming more involved in your community, I encourage you to submit a Volunteer Application, through Town’s website. We are always looking for residents who are willing to share their time, talents and expertise for the betterment of our community.
Armonk Has Heart 2026
Art is returning to the heart of downtown Armonk in the month leading up to the Armonk Outdoor Art Show. On August 26, as part of the Armonk Has Heart 2026, twenty original sculptures created by Art Show artists will be displayed in Armonk Square during Music in the Square. This unique public art initiative invites residents and visitors to explore Armonk, discover our wonderful local shops and restaurants and experience everything North Castle has to offer while enjoying incredible works of art.
On Wednesday, September 16, the Armonk Outdoor Art Show, in partnership with the Armonk Chamber of Commerce, will host an Art Stroller in downtown Armonk from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. The Heart sculptures will be on display throughout downtown, giving residents and visitors an opportunity to see the sculptures in person before the online auction goes live that evening. The auction will give residents and visitors the opportunity to bid on their favorite Heart sculpture, with proceeds benefiting the North Castle Public Library.
The Art Stroller will be followed by the the final Music in the Square concert of the season from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., featuring Willful Misconduct. Come out, enjoy the artwork, visit our local businesses, listen to some great music and spend an evening with friends and neighbors in downtown Armonk.
Looking head into Fall
On Friday, September 11, the Town will hold a memorial service in observance of September 11 in the evening at Wampus Brook Park. I invite residents to join me as we come together as a community to remember and honor those who lost their lives and to reflect on the lasting impact of that day. Additional details regarding the time and ceremony will be shared as plans are finalized.
The 64th Annual Armonk Outdoor Art Show will be held on Saturday, September 26 and Sunday, September 27, from 10:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. at North Castle Community. Recognized as one of the nation’s premier juried fine arts shows, the Art Show features approximately 160 outstanding artists from across the country. Visitors can spend the day enjoying the wonderful artwork, free children’s activities and delicious food and drinks. More than over 300 volunteers help plan and run the Art Show each year, making this wonderful event possible. Whether you can volunteer from home before the event or lend a hand during Art Show weekend, your support is greatly appreciated.
As we enjoy these final few weeks of summer, I want to wish all of our students a wonderful start to the new school year. Whether you are a freshman beginning your first year at college, a kindergartener experiencing your first day of school or a returning student excited to see friends and teachers again, I hope you have a successful year. Both the Byram Hills and Valhalla School District start on Wednesday, September 2. As school resumes, I ask all motorists to slow down, obey school zone speed limits, remain alert and watch carefully for children walking to and from school. Please help us keep our roads safe for everyone.
As always, thank you for your continued support. I hope you enjoy the reminder of the summer and I look forward to seeing many of you at our upcoming community events.
