Enjoying Spring in North Castle

The warm weather is here and it has been great to see everyone out enjoying all the wonderful things that North Castle has to offer. Afternoons and weekends across town are filled with families cheering on youth sports, neighbors running into each other while running errands and residents spending time in our beautiful parks. It is times like these that remind me of how special our community is.

Parks and Recreations Updates

Our Parks and Recreation Department has been extremely busy preparing for the summer season. This week, we celebrated the ribbon-cutting ceremony of the much-anticipated new turf field at Community Park. It was nice to see residents and their families at the field. Thank you to Superintendent of Parks and Recreation Matt Trainor, Town Administrator Kevin Hay and former Councilman Matt Milim for all their hard work and dedication in helping bring this project to completion.

Work at Clove Road Field is now complete. Stay tuned for updates from my office regarding the official opening and ribbon-cutting ceremony celebrating the two newly renovated ballfields. Generations of residents will enjoy these fields for years to come.

At the April 22 Town Board meeting, many residents came out in support of finding a location for pickleball courts in North Castle. The Town has been working closely with the Town Engineer to evaluate options and on May 27, the Town Board will hold a work session to discuss possible locations. I encourage residents to attend the work session to learn more. Expanding outdoor recreational amenities for all residents has been a focus of mine. I am proud that we continue to find ways to help residents stay active, healthy and connected while enjoying our outdoor recreation.

I am excited to welcome the start of the summer with the opening of the North Castle Town Pool on Saturday, May 23. There will be live music with Bob & Norm and fun games from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. On opening day, admission is free for North Castle residents with a valid photo id. The pool is one of our community’s favorite summer spots. So, come out and join in on the fun!

Westchester Municipal Officials Association Meeting

Yesterday, North Castle proudly hosted the Westchester Municipal Officials Association (WMOA) Meeting at the Whippoorwill Club. We welcomed more than 65 municipal leaders from across Westchester County. Our Director of the Planning, Adam Kaufman, shared a wonderful video highlighting our great town and everything North Castle has to offer. Thank you to Brian Schmid and his team at Whippoorwill Club for allowing us to host this fantastic event at the club.

Youth in Government

Getting our youth involved in government is something I care deeply about. I truly believe brining young perspective into public service is part of building a stronger future. Town Hall is honored to be hosting Arnay Saxena, a Byram Hills senior, for his Senior Internship Project. Arnay has been working closely with our Finance Department over the last two weeks. I look forward to hearing about his final project at the conclusion of his internship on June 12.

Another wonderful example of youth involvement is our Town Hall Spotlight series, which offers a closer look at the volunteer Boards and Committees in North Castle. The first edition was shared at the end of April. Thank you to Paloma Hussain for writing the informative piece on the Open Space Committee. Also, a special thank you to Kerri Kazak, chair of the Open Space Committee, for sharing the important work that the Open Space Committee continues to do. I look forward to sharing Paloma’s next spotlight later this month. Our Boards and Committees are an essential part of this community and we are fortunate to have so many residents willing to volunteer their time and expertise.

Recognizing Community Leadership

One resident volunteer who has truly gone above and beyond is Doug Mancinelli, founder of the North Castle Vine Cutters and a member of the Open Space Committee. On June 6th Doug will be recognized by the Westchester Land Trust for his hands-on leadership and dedication to his community. At their annual benefit, Doug is being honored with the Community Volunteer Award. On behalf of the Town Board and the entire Town of North Castle, I would like to congratulate Doug on this well-deserved recognition.

Memorial Day Ceremony

As we close out the month of May, our community will come together for our Memorial Day Ceremony hosted by the American Legion Post 1097. The ceremony will take place at 6 p.m. on Saturday, May 30 at the American Legion at 35 Bedford Road in Armonk. This is a great time for us to come together as a community and remember the brave men and women who sacrifice their lives for our freedom.

Looking Ahead to June

Looking ahead into June, the beloved Fol-De-Rol fair, sponsored by the Armonk Lions Club, will celebrate its 50th year. The fair runs from Thursday, June 4 to Sunday, June 7 at Wampus Brook Park. There will be an opening ceremony on Saturday, June 6 at 11:45 a.m., which includes dignitaries, members of the Lions, community representatives and first responders. The 4-day fair includes amusement rides, games, food vendors, craft vendors, live music and other entertainment. The net-proceeds from the 4-day festival are donated to local organizations and charities to fund community projects and help those in need. I hope to see many of you there.

June also marks the beginning of the much-loved Music in the Square and Summer Concerts at the Gazebo sponsored by North Castle Parks and Recreation Department, the Armonk Chamber of Commerce and Fortina. The first Music in the Square night is on Wednesday, June 24 at 6 p.m. featuring the Mike Risko Band. Come enjoy great music, support our local businesses and spend time with neighbors and friends. For the full 2026 schedule, please visit the Armonk Chamber of Commerce website.

North Castle 250th Celebration

As you may have already noticed, North Castle is gearing up for our 250th celebration on July 4, 2026. This week, bunting, banners and flags began appearing throughout town as we prepare for this historic milestone. Thank you to our Highway Department for putting up the banners and flags and to the Maintenance Departments for putting up the bunting. A special thank you to Councilmember Barbara DiGiacinto for stepping in and leading the decorating efforts for this important celebration. The North Castle Revolutionary War 250 Committee is actively looking for volunteers to assist with the festivities. The NCRW 250 is still collecting donations to fund the events. We look forward to celebrating North Castle’s rich history and bright future with residents during our official festivities on July 4. This will be a great celebration!

As always, thank you for your continued support and engagement. North Castle continues to thrive because of the people that call it home, and I look forward to seeing many of you at these upcoming events throughout the summer season.
