Third Public Meeting On Mermaid Lake Held
The Township held the third in a series of four public meetings on Monday, June 7 to discuss master planning for the Mermaid property.
At the meeting, a team of consultants headed by Simone Collins Landscape Architecture presented a Phase 2 Draft Plan for the property, reviewed results from the public survey, and answered questions from residents.
The Phase 2 Draft Plan drew heavily upon feedback from the community acquired through surveys and input at public meetings. Although the plan is still a preliminary draft, it shows the removal of the current pool and dam, and naturalization of the waterway running through the Mermaid property.
Additionally, the preliminary draft plan shows ample space for Whitpain’s summer camp, an inclusive playground, space for a potential public pool, and various options for the triangular shaped parcel located between Arch Street Road and the Northeast Extension of the PA Turnpike.
