Editor's Note: The Hawaiian Church Chronicle is released on the second and fourth Thursdays of the month, but every so often, the dates align to create a 3-week gap between issues. The Chronicle Supplement is an abbreviated version of the Chronicle to help fill that gap, and includes time-sensitive announcements and/or notable information. THE NEXT REGULARLY SCHEDULED CHRONICLE GOES OUT ON NOVEMBER 12. | | |
Season of Pentecost: Proper 27
O God, whose blessed Son came into the world that he might destroy the works of the devil and make us children of God and heirs of eternal life: Grant that, having this hope, we may purify ourselves as he is pure; that, when he comes again with power and great glory, we may be made like him in his eternal and glorious kingdom; where he lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

There are only a few days remaining as Bishop Bob Fitzpatrick's time as Bishop Diocesan comes to a close, and he's leaving an indelible "footprint" wherever he goes. Pictured above from left, Aggy Kusunoki from St. Andrew's Schools, captured this picture of the Bishop donning his trademark red sneakers. In a post on Facebook, he shared, "It was my last Chapel as Bishop Diocesan with the students of St. Andrew's Schools. As has been my custom when with them, I wore my red Converse All Star Low Tops."
A few days later, the Diocesan Support Center staff took part in the annual Boo Bash held "on the Square" where they pass out treats for Halloween. They dressed up in Star Trek gear paying homage to one of Bishop Bob's favorite shows. From left, Kaori Matsumoto, Nani Carroll, Bishop-elect Libby, Cammy Liu and her son, and Bishop Bob. On Wednesday, October 29, 2026, the Bishop ordained Hansu Park to the transitional diaconate at St. Luke's Episcopal Church in Honolulu. Park is one step closer in his journey to the priesthood.
On a post of Facebook, the Bishop talked about this photo: "In the silence before the prayer of consecration, I am preparing to ordain Hansu Park to the transitional diaconate in the little church that I once served as Vicar. It is one of my last official acts as Bishop Diocesan of the Episcopal Diocese of Hawai’i."
More photos of Park's ordination will appear in the next regularly scheduled Chronicle. (Photo: Susan Beauchene)
