THE BISHOP'S CORNER

The Count Down Filled with Numerous Events & Activities Honoring Bishop Bob

Bishop Bob (and Bea!) will certainly breathe a sign of relief come December, once Bishop-elect Libby Berman is consecrated and ordained in November. His schedule was already packed with the regular duties of a Bishop, traveling not just between islands (including Guam), but globally, as Bishop meetings, events, and conferences require him to do so. This past year's activities were compounded with the bishop search and transition.

In just the past two weeks his schedule included the Province VIII Youth Event (pictured above), where he welcomed 157 youth and chaperones from 12 dioceses for the three-day event. Look for full coverage of this event in an upcoming regular issue of the Chronicle. The past two weekends included stops on Kaua'i and Maui for his Farewell tour, along with regular visitations! Pictured above, Kaua'i's Farewell gathering was hosted by St. Michael and All Angels in Lihue on Saturday, July 25, where they welcomed a large group from All Saints' Kapa'a and others. This past weekend on Saturday, August 1, Bishop Bob headed to Maui where over 80 people from the various congregations on the Valley Isle turned out for his Farewell gathering held at Seabury Hall (pictured below), enjoying great food and fellowship. (Photos: M. Hino)

On Sunday, August 2, he joined the folks at Good Shepherd with the Rev. Moki Hino for a warm and final visitation (pictured below). Bishop and Bea were given precious gifts from the congregation, and Peter Lee presented the Bishop with a chasuble and stole worn by the priest who baptized Bishop Bob decades ago. The items, over 70 years old, were refurbished by Peter. A veritable feast in the parish hall followed. (Photos: Contributed by Good Shepherd)

THIS SATURDAY! BISHOP BOB AT ST. ELIZABETH'S

The final two stops on Bishop Bob's Farewell Tour are coming up on O'ahu, one this Saturday, August 8, at St. Elizabeth's in Honolulu, and on the 22nd at St. Christopher's in Kailua.

Remember, all church members from around the Diocese are invited to attend any of the farewell events that begin at noon, but PLEASE RSVP so the host church will have an idea of how many to prepare for! RSVP HERE or scan the QR code on the flyer.

Convention 58 Reminder!

Have you made your Flight Reservations?

As a reminder, we are advising all neighbor island voting clergy and convention delegates to book your flights NOW, especially those planning to arrive on Saturday morning for the Annual Meeting on October 17. With the recent cutback in flights on Hawaiian Airlines, in most cases, there is only one flight that will get you to O'ahu in time before check-in closes at 8:30 AM. Remember, late arrivals could cause you to lose your ability to vote! Please click HERE for travel procedures. When you have all your travel and personal information ready, you can submit the Air Travel Request online form HERE .

We encourage ALL IN THE DIOCESE to attend the events and activities on Friday, October 16, that includes Education Day, the Convention Eucharist, and the Ka Ha‘alele ‘Ana farewell event for Bishop Bob (limited seating available). Plus, Convention delegates and voting clergy won't have to worry about catching an early flight for Saturday's Annual Meeting.
