Supplies Meet Needs in Texas And Mexico
|
This year, Midwest Mission started partnering with Global Citizen USA, an organization much like our own that sends disaster relief globally and locally. Along with disaster relief, they work to create community impact in places where there are people in need who have been forgotten by others.
Northstar Foundation, a long-term partner of ours, connected us with Global Citizen USA. This partnership has already opened many doors for our ministry, so that more people will have what they need. This is why partnership is so important to this ministry!
Since the beginning of the year, we have sent several shipments to Global Citizen USA that have served communities in Arizona, Texas, and Mexico.
One of the main communities our supplies have gone to is who Global Citizen considers “tribal communities,” or Native American communities.
Many tribal communities have little to no funding.
“They are almost like the forgotten people,” Beti Vere Atilano, Global Citizen USA’s Executive Director, shared with us. “They are independent and don’t like to ask for help — but they have a lot of needs.”
Student Kits, mattresses, and Bed Packs were distributed in these communities.

In a God Moment kind of way, one shipment of supplies was unloaded at Global Citizen’s warehouse right before Hurricane Beryl hit. They were able to quickly distribute those supplies to hurricane victims in Texas.
Student Kits were also part of a back-to-school event where they provided school supplies on both sides of the border.
Beti was extremely thankful for Midwest Mission’s partnership.
“We are looking forward to seeing how this partnership grows over time,” Brad Walton, Midwest Mission’s Director of Operations said. “They are a great organization that parallels our values and priorities. We strive to connect the items we have at Midwest Mission with people in need, so they can live with hope for their future.”
We all play an important part in the process. Whether you donate supplies, support Midwest Mission financially, pray for the ministry, or share our mission with others — you are a part of changing lives. When each of us, and each organization, does what they do best, more impact can be made around the world and around the corner.

Midwest Mission Serving Event was a Success!
On Thursday, September 12, and Friday, September 13, we held a Blessing Bag Pack (formerly called Rice Meals) at Midwest Mission.
These were energetic and joyful days, as people around the community came together to assemble meals for those in need.
Over 100 people packed 6,000 meals that will feed 36,000 people around the world.
This event was part of our Midwest Mission Serving Sunday, where we celebrate the joy of serving.
It’s not too late to get involved on (or around) Midwest Mission Sunday! Learn more about it at midwestmission.org/mmsunday.
If you live near Jefferson, IA we have another serving event that you can participate in! We will be assembling buckets of disaster relief during our Bucket Brigade on Wednesday, September 25. Learn more at midwestmission.org/bucket-brigade.

Let us pray this week for God to move in big ways, that we may see His miracles and be in awe of His glory.
“'Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom that cannot be shaken, let us be thankful, and so worship God acceptably with reverence and awe"
-Hebrews 12:28
