Dear Friends and Supporters of Literacy Source,

It's Back-to-School month, and we are gearing up for a new school year by stocking up on books and school supplies for the year. September 22-28 is also Adult Education and Family Literacy Week , when individuals across the country recognize the value of adult education by supporting it in their communities and advocating for it to policymakers.

Each year, you have made it possible for us to purchase school books for our students to keep, which further benefits the learning they pursue in their classes. In our workplace English class, for example, our goal is to provide all students with their own copy of Rooms with a View, a story from New Reader's Press about an immigrant who navigates the job search process after recently moving to the United States . Each week, students will learn and take quizzes on new vocabulary words from the book, and will share their own ideas by speaking and writing about themes in the story.
