Happy Holidays from
Community Supported Shelters
Help Those Experiencing Homelessness
With so much heartbreak in the world today, I continue to have hope and vision for a world filled with compassion and peace. The work of Community Supported Shelters is a source of great inspiration which renews my spirit to begin each day with a fresh heart.

During 2017, our fourth year in service, we achieved some notable objectives:
CSS served over 160 people through the Safe Spot communities and continues to have a 60% plus success rate of people moving on from our program to a better situation.

We received a Wells Fargo VETERANS WIN grant to support upgrades at the Veteran’s Safe Spot and purchase a hydraulic dump trailer for gathering firewood.

Summer Safe Spot work parties were focused on gathering, splitting, and stacking wood. Over 15 cords have been processed to keep our camps warm this coming winter

Our Food Pantry program is in full operation. Food is ordered and picked up from Food for Lane County each week and delivered to each of our camps

Four years in the making, we published the ‘How to Build a Conestoga Hut’ manual

We built a wheelchair-accessible Conestoga Hut at the Roosevelt Camp in partnership with ShelterCare for use by their high-need clients.
New Kitchens in our Camps
V olunteer Appreciation Celebration
New Yurt for Client & Board Meetings
We loaned 6 Conestoga Huts to Nightingale Health Sanctuary to open their new site on Hilyard in Southeast Eugene
Our Service Coordination team has expanded to three staff members who manage our clients’ progress during their stay at a Safe Spot community

Working to stabilize those without shelter is possible because of people like you. The majority of the funds which operate our programs are from private community donors.

CSS is actively creating change at a time in the world when change is most needed.

Please help us continue this work by making a donation this holiday season.
Sincerely,
Kristin Fay de Buhr
Co-Founder and Co-Director
