CONGRATULATIONS TO RENT BOARD APPLICANTS!


We asked housing providers to apply to join the Pasadena Rental Housing Board and several of you have collected signatures from your neighbors and qualified!


The next steps come in May. The City Council will appoint five Board members:

-Three are tenant members

-Two at-large members who can be landlords or other

housing providers.


We will let you know when the appointment process details are announced. We will be asking you to write to City Council members and let them know that it's vital to give us a fair voice on the Rent Board. A viable rental industry requires more of a balance of housing providers and tenants.




FREE LANDLORD-TENANT MEDIATION


Disputes over rental homes can be time-consuming and expensive, especially if they end up in court. The Rent Stabilization Department has launched a new partnership with the Loyola Center for Conflict Resolution to offer no-cost mediation services between tenants and landlords.


We spoke with a housing counselor at the Department who told us that the first step in resolving a dispute is to contact the Department. The housing counselors can assess the situation and potentially approve mediation from the Loyola team. This can be an effective way to reach a fair resolution and there are already disputes being mediated by Loyola.




How to make contributions as reasonable business expenses
