As we prepare to gather together this weekend for our 2023 gala and our first in-person celebration in four years, we are grateful and inspired. By the courageous clients we are privileged to serve. By our talented staff in the trenches addressing crises and trauma every day. By our many diverse partners and leaders, with whom we work for systemic change.
May is National Older Americans Month, a time when many events are held around the nation to honor the older adults of our communities, families and nation. Every month is Older Americans Month for us -- and we hope for you. Every day we serve and honor the generations who came before us, upon whose shoulders we all stand. Every day we help raise their voices. Every day we educate, empower and advocate with and for them.
We hope you are joining us Saturday night for our 2023 gala. If you cannot be there, please join us in this work: through financial support, volunteering and/or advocacy. We believe older people in this country should not be abused, hungry, homeless or living in fear, but should age in dignity, with independence, grace, security and justice. That is the reason we exist. To seek justice, improve lives, bring light where there is darkness.

SeniorLAW Center Clients
Our resilient clients turn to SeniorLAW Center in their times of need. During the COVID-19 pandemic, many people faced challenges that seemed insurmountable at times. These challenges and issues affected our client populations in ways we could not always anticipate. Before COVID-19, our clients experienced abuse and financial exploitation, faced housing crises and homelessness, and dealt with custody obstacles with their grandchildren. Comcast’s Pro Bono Program
Comcast’s Pro Bono Program has been an excellent and enduring partner in mission with SeniorLAW Center and the larger Philadelphia legal services community for over a decade. Comcast's pro bono volunteers, which have included attorneys, paralegals, and other staff, have come out in large numbers for SeniorLAW Center's Life Planning Clinics and their volunteers have taken on other projects to serve SeniorLAW Center clients. SeniorLAW Center Staff
SeniorLAW Center’s dedicated staff truly embodies the identity of resilience during the pandemic, persistent racial injustice and upheaval, gun violence, and other crises of our times. Whether it was pivoting to remote work to serve our clients or dealing with heart-breaking challenges stemming from the pandemic, advocating for voting, and housing protections, or ensuring older people had food, social supports, heat, medicine, and basic necessities, the staff’s commitment to our critical mission was and remains inspiring. Their hard work fighting and advocating for justice for older people ended the devastation of financial and physical abuse, prevented homelessness during a national housing crisis, preserved autonomy for isolated and voiceless seniors, enabled grandparents’ rights to raise grandchildren at risk, and resolved many other serious challenges facing older individuals with creativity, innovation, and grit. Hall of Fame Inductee
Bill has been an exceptional SeniorLAW Center champion for over 20 years. As Board Chair, Treasurer, Board Member, volunteer attorney, fundraiser, ambassador and pro bono liaison he has had powerful impact on our organization in every way. He developed our great partnership with PECO/Exelon, where he served as Associate General Counsel in Philadelphia, specializing in environmental law, most notably legal strategies to mitigate the impact of climate change. Bill was an ardent advocate, former board chair, longtime board member and champion for SeniorLAW Center.
