Award-winning Author's book made into bilingual children's opera · Libro de autor premiado convertido en ópera bilingüe para niños

The Pulizter-prize winning opera composer Anthony Davis based his latest musical show on the book "Pancho Rabbit and the Coyote: A Migrant's Tale," by the Award-winning Author (AWA) Duncan Tonatiuh.
"Given the current political climate where immigrant communities are under attack and facing harassment, I think it is very important to have stories that show empathy," says Duncan Tonatiuh. "Pancho Rabbit is a story for children but it is also an allegory of the dangerous journey migrants often go through to reach the US. It is about the longing that families feel when they are far away from each other. It highlights the human aspect of people that migrate."
The opera for children will be performed at Southwestern College in Chula Vista on January 17 and 18, and at Casa de Cultura in Tijuana on January 31.

El compositor de ópera Anthony Davis, ganador del premio Pulitzer, basó su última obra musical en el libro "Pancho Conejo y el Coyote: La fábula de un migrante", del galardonado autor Duncan Tonatiuh.
Dado el clima político actual, en el que las comunidades inmigrantes son atacadas y sufren acoso, creo que es muy importante contar historias que muestren empatía", afirma Duncan Tonatiuh. "Pancho Rabbit es un cuento para niños, pero también es una alegoría del peligroso viaje que a menudo emprenden los migrantes para llegar a Estados Unidos. Trata sobre la añoranza que sienten las familias cuando están separadas. Destaca el lado humano de las personas que migran".
Esta ópera para niños se presentará en el Southwestern College de Chula Vista los días 17 y 18 de enero, y en la Casa de Cultura de Tijuana el 31 de enero.
