San Mateo County to Unveil New Express Lanes on Highway 101

New express lanes on US Highway 101 from the Santa Clara County line to Whipple Avenue in Redwood City officially open on Friday, February 11, officials with the San Mateo Transit District announced. The express lanes are available for drivers enrolled in the FasTrak system and will operate from 5 AM to 8 PM on weekdays. KRON4

Changes Taking Effect February 16, 2022 for Indoor and Outdoor Mega Events

On Monday, February 7, 2022, the California Department of Public Health announced the threshold for determining mega-events will increase and thus return to original levels of 1,000 indoors and 10,000 outdoors (reduced to 500/5,000 during Omicron).
In workplaces, employers are subject to the Cal/OSHA COVID-19 Emergency Temporary Standards (ETS) or in some workplaces the CalOSHA Aerosol Transmissible Diseases Standard, and should consult those regulations for additional applicable requirements.

California Eyes Endemic COVID Strategy

This year, the legislature is revisiting SPSL by introducing Assembly Bill (AB) 84 as a new leave mandate for 2022. Although many details are similar to 2021’s leave, there are some differences. Board of Supervisors Approved “Communities Together” Map of New District Boundaries

The San Mateo County Board of Supervisors today voted unanimously to adopt the “Communities Together” map that sets district lines for the next decade. “Four of the five districts provide significant opportunities for traditionally under represented groups to elect candidates that reflect the values of their communities,” Canepa said. “This is a significant achievement in drawing lines that respect the makeup of our communities today."

Employees are Re-Evaluating What They Want from Their Employers

A majority of American workers (67 percent) have re-assessed what they want from their employers due to the ongoing pandemic, with nearly half (44 percent) having considered leaving or having left their jobs over the past year, according to Franklin Templeton’s 'Voice of the American Worker Survey.'
