Dear Manna supporter,

Today is a very special day... Do More 24.  It's an opportunity to pause, before the summer gets into full swing, and support the organizations you care about.  We sincerely hope that Manna is at the top of that list.

You probably don't think of the summer as a season of gratitude, but the truth is that fighting hunger is a year-round proposition and you deserve Manna's thanks. I also want to share a special thank you to the Community Foundation in Montgomery County  Neighbors in Need Fund  who provided Manna with essential start-up funding for our exciting new Manna Mobile Kitchen & Pop-Up Pantry "Manny".  The County Executive   & County Council also "got on the bus", so to speak, and joined the philanthropic community by providing a Community Grant to support our initiative. Now Manny is ready for a curriculum pilot this summer, hitting the road to support a summer program for low-income kids.  As more donors join in, we'll be able to hire full-time staff to deliver services in Germantown, East County, and more year-round.

While the mobile kitchen and pop up pantry are new, this spring our core programs were also supported thanks to the County Council  approved FY18 budget.  Manna's Food for Families, Smart Sacks, Community Food Rescue, and Farm to Food Bank programs received essential grants that help us reach 50% of our neighbors who don't know where their next meal is coming from.

On behalf of the whole Manna team, I also want to thank you for making our work possible.  I hope you won't take a vacation from staying involved.  Whether by giving online, shopping at a farmers market, or participating in a food drive, we can't end hunger without you this month and all summer long.

Enjoy!     Jackie
Manny Makes Its Debut

We know from Montgomery County's Food Security Plan that families are not accessing or consuming enough vegetables.  As you likely know, vegetables really drive nutrition education:   Manna's Mobile Kitchen & Pop-Up Pantry is a new program designed to tackle two barriers at once by bringing nutritious foods and cooking skills to our community.  Read More...ยป
