A Proud Sponsor of:

If you or your firm values promoting math and STEM-related careers, then MATHCOUNTS is your opportunity to make a difference now.

OPPORTUNITY: VOLUNTEERS ARE NEEDED at 7 locations

throughout MA on JANUARY 31, FEBRUARY 3, 5, and 7, 2026.

Here's how you can support our state's 800+ young Mathletes as they compete in 7 Chapter Competitions in Jan-Feb, and the Massachusetts State MATHCOUNTS Competition in March, to determine the students who will REPRESENT OUR STATE at the 2026 National MATHCOUNTS Competition on May 11-12 in Orlando, FL.

I invite you to volunteer a few hours to proctor or score exams at a local competition near you (see schedule below) or to donate to the program.

On behalf of the students,

THANK YOU for your support.

Sincerely,

John Hayden, PE, MATHCOUNTS State Coordinator
Senior Transportation Engineer | Stantec Consulting Services

Director, Massachusetts Society of Professional Engineers

WHY MATHCOUNTS IS VITAL

MATHCOUNTS is a national math enrichment and competition program for 6th, 7th and 8th graders (middle school students), run entirely by volunteers and sponsors.

Math is a vital skill, and a foundation of disciplines like science, engineering, and technology. For more than 30 years, MA MATHCOUNTS has been providing math enrichment and competitive opportunities to middle school students throughout the Commonwealth. Through the grass-roots efforts of volunteers and the support of the Massachusetts Society of Professional Engineers, the competition program has grown to serve between 750 and 900 students each year.

This support enables our students to consistently win and place among the top 10 teams and individuals in the nation. It also prepares students to be employees who can solve problems, work in teams, and support their employers' success.

Last year, Team Massachusetts placed FIRST IN THE NATION out of 56 teams at the National MATHCOUNTS Competition held from May 10-12, 2025 in Washington, D.C., adding to a proud history of Top 10 national finishes for Massachusetts. All four students also placed individually in the top 13% of 224 top mathletes from across the U.S. who advanced to the national event after more than 90,000 students competed in local and state contests.
