To support open access, Amigos Library Services is working with the Directory of Open Access Journals (DOAJ), a community-curated online directory that indexes and provides access to high quality, open access, peer-reviewed journals. Amigos member libraries such as yourscan become DOAJ supporters for 2021 with a 30% discount.
Support from libraries for DOAJ strengthens its efforts in promoting open access publishing practices. By supporting DOAJ, these libraries become open access supporters as well. These libraries will be listed as supporters on the DOAJ website and gain the benefit of the option to market themselves as DOAJ supporters.
Thanks to the growing support of DOAJ by libraries, it has reduced the processing time for journal applications, has made it easier for journals to apply for listing and has initiated discussions with discovery providers to improve visibility of open access.
DOAJ support comes at two levels, Basic and Sustaining.
Benefits for Basic DOAJ Support include:
- Acknowledgement as a DOAJ Basic Supporter on the DOAJ Supporters' webpage
- Designation on the Supporters' webpage that your support was facilitated by Amigos
- Ability to provide Supporter Feedback
- The right to use the DOAJ Basic Supporter status in marketing activities
Sustaining DOAJ Support includes all the benefits of Basic support, plus the opportunity for participation in governance by nominating and voting on members of the DOAJ Council and Advisory Board. Libraries also have the option to pay three years up front to receive an additional discount.
You can learn more about this partnership in the press release below and join the webinar on March 24 to learn more about DOAJ, how to use and promote quality-controlled Open Access content and more. For additional details or to become a supporter, please contact me by March 31, 2021.
