On November 9, the Chicago Urban League will host the 63rd Annual Golden Fellowship Dinner (GFD). Last year, GFD brought together nearly 2,000 of Chicago’s business, civic, and community leaders to both celebrate our accelerated progress and support the work ahead with all hands on deck. This year’s gala theme, Standing on Business in the Fight for Equity, challenges all of us to make our walk match our talk in creating a greater Chicago for all to live and thrive.
GFD is our signature gala that raises critical funds to support thousands of Chicagoland residents through programming that aids in advancing our mission of achieving equity for Black families and communities through social and economic empowerment. Thanks to the generous support from you, we were able to raise nearly $2.4 million dollars at last year's gala.
Each year, GFD is a highlight of the gala season in Chicago, and we have a special evening unlike any other planned for you this year. The night will be filled with inspiration and high energy for the 63rd Annual Golden Fellowship Dinner. During the gala, award-winning singer and actress Fantasia is set to have everyone on their feet singing and dancing along to her countless hits. Dr. Carol L. Adams will be honored with the Edwin C. “Bill” Berry Award, named for the civil rights trailblazer who led the Chicago Urban League from 1956-1969. Additionally, Chicago State University’s President Zaldwaynaka “Z” Scott will receive the Lester H. McKeever, Jr., Individual Service Award – named for long-time CPA, accounting firm principal and Chicago Urban League Life Director Lester H. McKeever, Jr.
We are proud to have Toi Salter, President of Salter Financial Management, serving as this year's gala dinner chair. And a special thank you to those who have already made a commitment, including returning top sponsors Illinois Tool Works (ITW) and McDonald’s as well as iHeartMedia Chicago, the leading media sponsor for the gala. New this year is the Major Leaguer Sponsor led by Chicago native and NBA superstar Anthony Davis Jr.
Support from our sponsors aids in our mission of helping thousands of Chicagoans obtain jobs, become homeowners, enhance their educational experiences, strengthen their leadership skills, grow their businesses and so much more!
