Applications for the MassTech Intern Partnership Now Available
|
|
If you are hiring interns this summer you will want to take advantage of the MassTech Intern Partnership. Massachusetts companies can be reimbursed for up to 50% of an intern's hourly wage up to $8 per hour for a total of $3,200/year per individual intern. Digital Health companies may apply for up to 3 interns in 2021. All interns must be paid as employees, not contractors, with required payroll withholdings. Read More.

Leading Edge Acceleration Project Grants
|
|
The application period for two $1 million grants from The Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology is now open. Applicants must focus on one of two possible focus areas: patient referral management systems or the integration of AI and EHR data research. Applications are due May 10, 2021. Read more.

Massachusetts Sandbox Spotlight: PracticePoint at WPI

PracticePoint, one of the nine sandboxes in the Massachusetts Digital Health Network, is WPI’s membership-based healthcare development and testing facility located in Worcester’s Gateway Park. It’s a place to advance healthcare technologies and launch new medical, cyber, and physical systems. MeHI Director Laurance Stuntz recently sat down with Christopher Nycz, Research Scientist at PracticePoint, to discuss PracticePoint’s capabilities, their role as a member of the Sandbox Network, and the opportunities for digital health companies. Apply for a Massachusetts Digital Health Sandbox Program Grant
|
|
Massachusetts companies seeking financial assistance to access the services at one of the nine members of the Digital Health Sandbox Network are encouraged to apply for the Digital Health Sandbox Grant Program. The program provides up to $50,000 in grants to subsidize the cost of working with a Sandbox to test and validate products and services.Applications are accepted on a quarterly basis. The next deadline to apply is April 16th. Read more.

Boston-based PatientPing, an industry leading care coordination company who was recently certified as one of two Encounter Notification Service vendors by the Mass HIway, announced a definitive agreement to be acquired by Appriss Health of Louisville, KY. According to Mobihealth News, the deal values PatientPing at approximately $500 million.

Mightier received a $2 million grant from the National Institute of Health to study how their video game therapy can improve the behavior and mental health of children living with ADHD. Formerly based at Children’s Hospital, the startup is teaming up with Magellan Health for the study according to MobiHealthNews.

Boston-based Folx Health raised $25 million in new Series A funding with their new digital health platform focused on providing services and care for the LGBTQ community. According to FierceHealth, the company is focused on meeting the needs of a traditionally underserved community that totals upwards of 39 million people in the United States.

Rhino Health closed on a $5 million financing round to improve their AI-based platform that helps connect hospitals and AI developers to a wide range of diverse and updated datasets according to MobiHealthNews.

PatientsLikeMe raised $26 million in financing from Alta Partners, Hambrecht Ducera Growth Ventures, Optum Ventures and PBM Capital for their 800,000 strong healthcare community. PatientsLikeMe users put their health care experiences in context and find answers to their questions by interacting with medical professionals and others per BusinessWire.
