As we continue to watch the news and hear the most disturbing reports from the war in Israel and Gaza, I would like to affirm to our campus community Queens College’s commitment to providing an environment where all can feel safe, supported, and included. We condemn the brutal murder and kidnappings perpetrated against innocent civilians. At this time, I would like to remind our community about the CUNY Code of Conduct (Henderson Rules) and the expectation that we all conduct ourselves with civility and respect, no matter our points of view.
Many in our campus community have loved ones who are deeply affected by this conflict. Students who are directly impacted by this tragedy are encouraged to reach out to faculty and staff who can provide support to help them complete their class requirements (i.e., attending class via Zoom, make-ups as required, and other support as necessary). Faculty and staff who are directly affected should reach out to their immediate supervisor (e.g., department chair) for assistance identifying the appropriate support.
With the help of the Office of Student Affairs, we have asked our Counseling Center to be available to meet with any student who wishes to share personal concerns. The Counseling Center has on staff licensed psychologists, social workers, and professional counselors, as well as supervised interns. To reach them, call 718-997-5420 and leave a message with your name, CUNY ID number, and phone number. Calls will be returned on the same business day between 9 am and 5 pm. Alternatively, students can email the same information to counselingservices@qc.cuny.edu or visit the center's office on the first floor of Frese Hall weekdays from 9 am to 5 pm.

I would like to share with our community President Biden’s condemnation of the terrorist attacks in Israel and his expression of the United States’ support for Israel’s security. Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with those who have fallen victim to this senseless violence and those who continue to find themselves in harm’s way.
