The CAVC Board of Directors advances our mission across Ventura County as a collective of like-minded individuals across private and public sectors who are committed to strengthening pathways out of poverty in all of our communities.
In our Board Member Spotlight series, we ask Board members about who they are and why they support CAVC. Our Spotlight for July introduces you to Cindy Goldberg.
Sector on Board of Directors: Public Sector
Occupation: Nonprofit Director
Member of the Board since: 2021
CAVC: Why did you join the CAVC Board of Directors?
CG: I believe strongly in CAVC’s mission and vision, and when asked by Supervisor Linda Parks if I was interested in filling a public sector vacancy, I jumped at the opportunity.
CAVC: What inspires you most about CAVC?
CG: CAVC empowers people and shows them a way out of the darkness; it provides hope as well as help.
CAVC: What is one program or service CAVC offers that is particularly meaningful to you, and why?
CG: I am incredibly proud of both the food support and services for the unhoused because they provide the most basic of necessities. These two programs/services provide nourishment for the body and mind. Once people have food in their stomachs and have had a shower and are wearing clean clothes, they can move forward more clearly. And the CAVC has services that help people create better situations for themselves, including computer/WiFi access to help with job searches.
CAVC: Describe a day in your life:
CG: Each day is different, but they all start with coffee, are filled with conversations and activities designed to help others and educate people. Most of them end with me falling asleep on the couch while my family finishes the movie we started.
CAVC: What is one goal you've had for yourself in 2022?
CG: In this year, I hope to spend time improving our community and finding more time to enjoy family and friends.
