It's a beautiful initiative all sparked by Jonathan's Pitre's hometown community of Russell /Embrun township.

On November 19, 2016 a dedicated walk aptly called "Marchons pour Jonathan Butterfly Mile" (5.5 km event) will take place at the Russell Fairgrounds between 10 a.m. and 2 p.m. All proceeds from the event to support   DEBRA Canada's Medical Assistance Fund Program to support Canadian families affected by EB.

24
14 kilometers stand between Jonathan Pitre in his hospital room in Minnesota and his home in Russell. DEBRA Canada President (Jonathan's Mom) explains, "It hasn't been an easy journey... leaving home, so many unknowns... and now we anxiously await a second attempt at the bone marrow transplant tentatively scheduled for the end of February 2017. This Butterfly Mile Event in Russell is exactly what we needed to help us through the last stretch of our journey, to continue to feel supported and will help us feel closer to everyone we miss at home.

Jonathan echoes his mother' sentiments and insists, "It is going to be great... our family back home will be taking part in this event. And my sister Noemy will even bring Gibson (Jonathan's beloved Boston terrier) who I miss very much... that will be very special for me to see them all walking for me."
