Medi-Cal and Other

Benefits Enrollment

Our Promotores at Latino Leadership Council can now help clients apply for Medi-Cal benefits and other programs. If you have questions about Medi-cal or qualifications, we're here to help!

Client Impact

Mr. Cuevas, a resilient Sacramento resident, has faced significant health challenges over the last year. After many years without access to a primary care provider, he suffered multiple strokes, each resulting in extended emergency room visits and lengthy hospitalizations. Unfortunately, after each discharge, Mr. Cuevas and his family faced many barriers in connecting to a primary care provider.

The Cuevas family attempted their best, like many of our families do, in navigating a different language, finding affordable transportation, and accessing health insurance. Through partner referrals, the Cuevas family was able to connect with the Latino Leadership Council (LLC) where our team of promotores has helped in accessing Medi-Cal benefits, scheduling primary care appointments, advocating for appropriate specialty care, and establishing In-Home Support Services (IHSS).

The Cuevas family has shared their gratitude for LLC and is now comfortable supporting Mr. Cuevas with his speedy recovery.

Thank You

Latino Leadership Council had a busy month collaborating within our community.

Check out all the wonderful fundraisers below!

Shear Generosity:

We are so grateful to everyone who supported our Shear Generosity fundraiser. A special thank you to our host, The Ville’s Barber Shop for providing 30 of our families with an incredible experience! They all left with big smiles and happy hearts with their new haircuts! This event would not have been possible without your dedication to give back to the community.

Big Day of Giving:

LLC had its annual Big Day of Giving fundraising event and we would like to thank everyone who donated! Your donations have a direct impact on Latino/a/x families in Placer and Northern Sacramento County. We thank everyone again on behalf of the Latino Leadership Council for your contributions.

Cinco De Mayo at Denio's:

This past weekend we had the honor to partner with Denio's and Telemundo 33 for a Cinco de Mayo celebration! Thank you Denio's for having us at this wonderful event!

Latinx Youth at College

In April, the LLC partnered with Sierra College to host families for a Spanish campus tour and presentation on their resources.

Currently, only 20% of Latino students are enrolled in higher education programs. We are proud of partnerships like these that help us record and increase this statistic of youth and adults of Northern Sacramento and Placer in higher education.

We hosted 30 folks at the event, and families left feeling hopeful and excited for their children and their own futures. It is never too early or too late to begin talking about higher education!

Thank you, Sierra College, for hosting such a wonderful event!
