LLC's Newest Staff Member

Welcome to Indira Infante, who has joined the Latino Leadership Council as Fund and Program Development Director, leading fundraising efforts and developing strategic goals and objectives that meet the needs of our diverse Latino/a populations.

Indira is no stranger to the LLC, having served for several years as a Promotora before becoming an imbedded partner in the Placer County Children’s System of Care. She is passionate and dedicated and will bring her lived experiences as an immigrant, a recipient of services and a fierce advocate for her family and her community to make a profound impact on families in need.

“My role at Latino Leadership Council is much more than a profession, it's a calling fueled by my own life experiences and inspired by the underserved Latino communities who overcome daily challenges to provide a better life for their families.” she said. “I’m so excited to be back with our amazing promotores and leadership and look forward to deepening partnerships and creating meaningful change for our communities.”

Leadership with Latinidad

Congratulations to this phenomenal group of courageous and passionate Latino/a leaders who completed an 8-week course of Leadership with Latinidad! We had 22 start and 22 finish, which is a testament to their dedication. Adelante!

Client Impact

Helping clients adopt healthy eating habits means understanding their current health issues, the foods that are part of their cultural diet, and access to the foods you are recommending.

The LLC and CalFresh Health Living have collaborated for years to help Latino/a clients struggling with diabetes and hyperlipidemia, and are now using the Smart Foods and basic physical activity curriculum to help them overcome these health issues.

As a result, Placer County’s Spanish monolingual Latinx families have resulted in higher positive management of blood glucose and cholesterol levels

of those we serve, and Mr. Alemán is just one of many who has benefitted from this program.

“Because of this program, my health has had a significant overall improvement. I used to overeat an excess amount of carbohydrates in every meal and now I know how to eat a balanced meal. My blood sugars have improved, I’m preparing and eating Cactus Salad and now walking 45 minutes 3 times a week. Thank you for your guidance in this journey.”

Community Resources and Events

The Latino Leadership Council cannot serve our communitie alone and partner with others to ensure diverse resources are available to our communities.

We thank our partners for the following services and goods that benefited our clients:

Through the generosity of the Lighthouse Family Resource Center, we were able to distribute bikes to a few families in need. These bikes will be used to alleviate transportation issues for our families, and their overall life enhancement!

The Assistance League of Greater Placer made it possible for our families participate in their Operation School Bell School Clothing Program.

With this partnership, LLC was able to support the children of our families to shop for free new clothes, shoes and toys!

The Lincoln Kiwanis Club collaborated with LLC to host a health event that addressed our community's health needs. Thanks to this connection, we were and are continuing to connect over 20 families with dental services.

With the support of Promotor Jaime Diaz, Sacramento Area Bicycle Advocates, donated a bicycle to one of our clients in dire need of accessible transportation.

Thank you for helping our community!

By partnering with The salt Mine, many of our families were able to receive a box of fresh food in perfect time for the holidays!
