Thank you for joining us!

Our 9th Annual Forum was a success! We had three amazing presentations on the decisions that perpetuate inequities in healthcare, strategies to reduce them, and practices to apply these strategies to education and other system services. In addition to our presentations, we celebrated our Quetzal Award winners on stage for continuing to uplift the Latino community. We would like to thank everyone for joining us at our forum this year!

At our 9th Annual Forum on the Latino Community, Where's the Evidence? Challenging our Decision-Making Paradigms, we bestowed our Quetzal Awards on 4 individuals in the fields of HEALTH, EDUCATION and YOUTH who are going above and beyond to support our Latino communities.

Client Impact

Mauricio came to us seeking help to be a more stable, healthier person for his partner and baby. Mauricio struggles with mental health and anger management issues which have made it difficult for him to be the parent and provider he wants to be. Recently, Mauricio has been making positive changes and getting the help he needs, including signing up for parenting and anger management classes and going back to school. He had also been struggling with reliable transportation; however, we were able to provide Mauricio with a bike donated to us by Lighthouse Counseling & FRC and he is so grateful to now have a reliable means of transportation.

"Thank you for your support and encouragement in helping me to be a better man, father and partner. I'm young and still have much to learn, but I'm so grateful for all my Promotor's hard work in getting me connected to the services I need to reunite with my partner and baby and helping me finally get my own reliable form of transportation. This bike has allowed me to get to and from work, school and even help with groceries."

Nutrition and Cooking Event

Last month, we hosted our first in person nutrition and cooking event since Covid. Many attendees regularly attend our virtual nutrition education classes and were so excited to get together in person. Attendees brought some delicious appetizers to share and then went over the class topic, "How to Improve the Immune System," before making Tortilla Soup and raffling some baskets with cooking utensils.

Entre Amigos Kitchen

For our September Entre Amigos virtual cooking class, youth learned how to make shrimp ceviche. Many of them expressed this being their first time making a meal with seafood and were so excited to learn about the different ways to cook and eat shrimp!

Entre Amigos Round1

Entre Amigos took 15 youth to Round1 in Roseville. They were all so excited to get together after school and see friends they don't usually see at school. They enjoyed a few rounds of bowling and were helping each other to improve their technique. Some went to play arcade games and went home with some cool prizes!
