Placer County Ribbon Cutting Ceremony

We were pleased to attend Placer County's Health and Human Services Ribbon Cutting ceremony for their new building in Auburn.

Placer County has honored our

esteemed Maria Cordova (and other community leaders) with meeting rooms named after them to congratulate their longtime community services.

The room named in her honor, is a testament to her exemplary service and leadership in our diverse community.

Client Impact

In the past year, Mrs. Estrada had a total of 8 emergency room visits by the time she met the Latino Leadership Council. Mrs. Estrada had struggled with severe anemia, repeatedly needing blood transfusions. Her only solution was an urgent surgery with a specialist. However, this became extremely difficult to schedule since she did not have insurance and to her knowledge, she was outside of the Medi-Cal eligibility window. Her condition made it difficult to continue working and perform daily activities, this caused much stress on her and her family.

With the help of her Promotor Bryan, she was able to get approved for Medi-Cal benefits, established with a primary care doctor, and scheduled her urgent surgery with a specialist. Mrs. Estrada is feeling back to her energetic self and excited to continue supporting her son who is studying to become a doctor!

"Many thanks to the Latino Leadership Council for all your support and for helping me navigate the healthcare System. “

Entre Amigos Kitchen

Entre Amigos had 13 youths join us for our monthly cooking class. The youth wanted to make dinner for Valentine's Day and voted on making shrimp alfredo pasta.

Over the years of hosting these classes, we have seen a lot of growth in their cooking skills, as they are starting to improvise and use more creativity in their dishes! The youth often get excited and usually get ahead of the pace of the class because they want to taste their creations.

They are also getting new ideas with their plating and sharing the things they add to the recipes!

Entre Amigos Roller King

The Latino Leadership Council's youth programs were able to host 25 youth at Roller King this month. The youth were excited to try roller skating for the first time and did an incredible job encouraging one another and helping each other on the rink. We even got to see some parents join in on the fun and roller skate with their kids!
