INSIGHT IMPROV  LAB 2015

Insight Improv Lab

Coaching Psolodrama

SPECIAL NOTICE: Next month's Lab, on August 9, will be a virtual workshop that anyone can participant in, via the web. (See below for details.)

Dear Friends,

Psolodrama is designed to give the psoloist complete autonomy, relatively free from the influence of the peer witness or therapist.

But with this freedom comes responsibility: the psoloist is actor, director, playwright, and self-therapist all rolled into one. Not only does psolodrama demand spontaneity as an improviser, it also requires the psoloist to be present, focused, and not thrown off by doubt, fear, or confronting strong emotions.

Coaching can help.

Especially for someone new to psolodrama, a witness experienced in the practice and acting as a coach can provide simple and clear guidance, helping the psoloist refocus and return to action. By listening carefully and coaching only when requested, the witness/coach can strengthen the sense of safety and support necessary for the psoloist to explore deeply.

For July's Insight Improv Lab, we'll practice coaching psolodrama in pairs and as a group, discussing the principles of spare and effective coaching.

Please join us this Sunday, July 12th, from 3:30-7:00pm. This will be a fun and active session -- and completely free -- don't miss it!

Looking forward to seeing you there,

Joel

p.s. -- If you are new to psolodrama, you are welcome to join us! Please contact us in advance for ways to get up to speed prior to the Lab.

SPECIAL NOTICE

COMING SOON TO THE LAB

August 9, 2015:  Psolodrama Alone

For August's Lab we have an opportunity to try something new: a "virtual workshop" that you can join from anywhere in the world, and participate right from your own home.

Doing psolodrama alone -- without a witness -- can be an unexpectedly moving and satisfying experience, an opportunity to express oneself in a completely uncensored way, as well as to reflect on life challenges and gain new insight.

The 2-hour virtual Lab on August 9 is planned for 10am-12noon EDT so that participants outside of Boston -- not only throughout the US and Canada but also internationally -- can join as well.

We will connect via the web (and optionally by telephone), review the practice of psolodrama and tips for doing it alone, and then take time off-line to practice psolodrama individually in our own homes, before reconnecting to share our experiences.

We look forward to hearing your voice on the call. More information on how to join will follow in early August -- please save the date!

"Thank you so much for your teaching and guidance here this weekend...to help others become more whole and present in this journey of life. I will remember that I sang despite saying that I would not. I will remember how I returned to a brave part of myself. You really created an atmosphere that encouraged and cultivated courage. Anything is possible."
