JULY 5, 2026

While summer can bring more family time and fun, it can also increase stress as parents juggle childcare, activities, work, and household responsibilities. Prioritizing self-care isn't selfish, it's essential. Taking time to rest and recharge can help improve well-being and make it easier to care for your family.

Here are a few simple ways to care for yourself this summer:

  • Start your day with quiet time. Even 10–15 minutes of coffee, journaling, or a peaceful walk makes a difference.
  • Lower expectations. Not every day needs to be perfectly planned or productive.
  • Schedule self-care. Put time for yourself on the calendar and treat it like any other important appointment.
  • Ask for support. Share responsibilities and stay connected with friends, family, or other parents.
  • Protect your energy. Prioritize rest, set boundaries, and say no when needed.

Remember: The best summer memories often come from simple moments, not perfect schedules.

Thank you to Connecticut Voices for Children, a statewide child and family advocacy organization, for bringing the final stop of the Roadmap to Fully Funded Communities tour to our community. The event created an important space for advocates, community leaders, and residents to come together and discuss the investments families need not only to meet basic needs today, but to thrive for generations to come.

We are grateful to CT Voices for leading this statewide conversation and for their ongoing commitment to advancing policies that support children, caregivers, and stronger communities across Connecticut.

Thank you to everyone who participated, shared their perspectives, and continues to champion a brighter future for Connecticut families.

After years of dedicated service, we bid a fond farewell to Javid Siddiqi, Director of Immigration Support Services, as he begins a new chapter.

While we will greatly miss Javid's presence, we are grateful for all he has contributed to JFS and wish him every success and happiness in the future.
