MARCH 2, 2025

Thank You to the Generous Supporters of our Older Adult Services!

JFS of Greenwich extends its heartfelt gratitude to the incredible supporters who make a meaningful impact in the lives of local seniors. We are off to a great start in 2025, serving 47 seniors through our Supermarketing for Seniors (SFS) program, ensuring access to essential groceries for homebound seniors. Our Compassionate Companions program provided door-through-door escorts to non-emergency medical appointments for 40 seniors.

Your commitment helps foster independence, dignity, and connection for those who need it most. Thank you for making a difference in our community!

If you're interested in volunteering for our SFS or Compassionate Companions program, please contact Daniela Valdovinos.

Last Week's Virtual Town Hall Explores Impact of Executive Orders on Immigrants

Over 60 people joined the JFS online discussion of the facts behind recent executive orders impacting us locally, statewide, and nationally. CEO Rachel Kornfeld explained the emotional and physical impact of these sweeping changes on vulnerable immigrants and the not-for-profit agencies who serve them. Christopher Kelly, Director of Immigration Legal Services, helped to break down the executive orders, defining the legal ramifications for millions of people who will lose their current status to remain legally in the US.

Thank you for showing empathy and interest in the plight of refugees and immigrants in Connecticut and around the country. Many of you have asked how you can help. Click here for ways to make a difference. If you would like to get involved, please contact Beth Nussbaum.

 Hope Day Enhances Community Awareness

Benson Casimir, Psychotherapist at JFS Greenwich, participated in the Kids Helping Kids (KHK) Hope Day at UCONN Stamford to raise awareness about mental health services for children and families. He connected with local families from Stamford, Norwalk, and New Canaan, engaging in meaningful conversations about community well-being. The event highlighted Stamford-based agencies dedicated to supporting children, adolescents, and families. It was a valuable opportunity to strengthen community ties and showcase the comprehensive services offered at the JFS Greenwich Bennett Center for Behavioral Health.
