Adopt a Scouting Family: Supporting Those in Need

The Adopt a Scouting Family program has been an incredible way to support Scouting families facing hardships. Pack and Troop 818, from the Orange County Council, were honored to be among the 180 Scouting units that stepped up to assist families impacted by the recent LA fires. They were matched with the Willis family, who were affected by the Eaton fire and came together to provide much-needed support.

Through the generosity of Pack and Troop families were able to deliver nearly $3,000 in monetary aid and essential items, ensuring the Willis family had what they needed during this difficult time.

Highlights of Pack & Troop 818's Support:

$1,000 in VISA gift cards
$250 VISA gift card for each son to shop for new toys and clothes
Family tent & camping gear for their upcoming trip
BMX bike & skateboard
Sports equipment for their new leagues
Toys and Legos—including a set repackaged with care by one of our Scouts
A heartfelt donation from one of our Scouts, who gave a $50 gift card he received for Christmas

The units proudly delivered these items to the Willis family, reminding them all of the power of community and Scouting values.

We understand that many who have volunteered for this program have yet to be matched or hear back from the family they were paired with. We ask for your patience, as this is a difficult time for everyone involved. Your willingness to help means the world, and your kindness will make a difference when the time is right.

Join us for Tuku'ut Lodge’s Annual Trade-O-Ree & Merit Badge Day on March 8, 2025, hosted by the Greater Los Angeles Area Council’s Order of the Arrow Lodge.

Event Highlights:

Trade-O-Ree & Auction (March 7-8): Explore Scouting memorabilia, meet fellow Scouts and Scouters, trade items, and bid on unique items in silent and live auctions. Proceeds support Tuku’ut Lodge’s service programs.
Merit Badge Day (March 8): Earn badges in Collections, Scouting Heritage, Public Speaking, Fingerprinting, Citizenship in Society, and more. ILST will also be offered for NYLT participants.
