UPCOMING EVENTS AND ANNOUNCEMENTS FROM AND FOR OUR NONPROFIT COMMUNITY

Lamorinda CERT

Lamorinda CERT

CERT Water Drum Sale

What would you do if an earthquake disabled our EBMUD water supply for days or even weeks? Experts estimate the minimum water each person needs per day is 2 gallons; one for drinking and another for sanitation. If you don’t have an emergency water supply on hand, you might be forced to stand in line for water once water trucks can even get set up. At 8 pounds per gallon, water is also very heavy to carry.

Fortunately, the Lamorinda CERT Foundation water drum sale is now in progress. Lamorinda CERT sells water storage drums to residents so they can proactively get an emergency water supply in place at their homes. The drums are offered in various sizes as well as other emergency equipment such as fire extinguishers, GMRS and HAM handheld radios, and utility shutoff tools.

The sale is on now and pick up for drums ordered will be held on the morning of Saturday, May 31 behind Fire Station 41 at 1284 Moraga Way in Moraga. All residents are encouraged to have an emergency supply of drinking water in case our community water supply is disrupted by a major event (earthquake). To purchase water drums, fire extinguishers, radios or shut off tools go to the Lamorinda CERT website: https://supplies.lamorindacert.org

Being prepared for disasters is essential for the safety of you and your family, and having an emergency water supply is a fundamental step in being prepared.

Contra Costa Senior Legal Services

At Contra Costa Senior Legal Services (CCSLS), they are dedicated to empowering seniors in the community by providing the legal services and support they need to protect their shelter, security, and safety. As challenges like housing instability, scams, and elder abuse continue to grow, it’s essential that seniors have a reliable advocate in their corner.

Due to anticipated federal funding cuts that threaten their staff size, they must turn to the community to ensure that vulnerable seniors can continue to rely on the free legal support they need. That’s why they’re launching their Fund an Attorney Campaign until September 3, 2025.

Their goal is to raise $100,000 to retain a dedicated legal aid attorney for an entire year and ensure that their vital services remain available to those in need.
