Lamorinda Spirit Van Senior Transportation Program
Neighbors Helping Neighbors: What a sense of relief to know that a system is in place to provide help as we age! Especially if there is no family nearby. We, at Lamorinda Spirit Van, need additional drivers, so we don’t have to regretfully say: “Unfortunately we are already booked up for that day.” The Lamorinda community depends on an inflow of Lamorinda Spirit Volunteer Drivers to provide those much-appreciated rides for older adults who prefer to age in their own homes and neighborhoods.
- Do you enjoy driving?
- Would you like to meet some fascinating older individuals?
- Are you interested in experiencing the satisfaction of helping seniors get to medical, personal, and social appointments, errands, exercise, lunch at Café Costa or to visit a spouse in a care facility?
- Can you spare 4-5 hours every week or two?
If you answered yes, contact us now at (925) 284-5546 or [email protected].
Lamorinda Spirit Van provides affordable, door to and through door rides to Lamorinda residents ages 60+ and persons with disabilities. Destinations include Lamorinda, Walnut Creek, Pleasant Hill, Concord and Martinez. We take pride in helping the seniors in our community remain independent and able to stay in their own homes.”

Assistance League®’s Sunshine Boxes Program
Assistance League Diablo Valley’s Sunshine Boxes program originated in 2019 as a way to help out students who come to school hungry on Mondays.
Our volunteers participate purchasing and assembling shelf stable food items for 9 deliveries throughout the year. The weekend shelf stable food includes oatmeal, mac and cheese, tuna, chicken, canned fruit, chili and spaghetti along with various snack items. As important, a note of encouragement completes the inventory.
Pittsburg Unified School District staff transport filled food boxes to Heights Elementary School, where they are then distributed to the selected schools on Fridays, ultimately benefitting 500 students a month, including foster and unhoused youth.
Sunshine Boxes is just one of 16 programs supported by the Assistance League Thrift Shop. The shop is in Lafayette, next to the Park Theatre.
Watch for our Thanksgiving and Holiday special events at Assistance League Thrift Shop.
