SUPPORTIVE ADVOCATES

One crucial role our Family Advocates have is to be a support system to families during their court process. Recently one of our Advocates not only provided support to the family while they were at trial, but also provided interpretation assistance, as the family spoke Spanish. The client had a difficult time during the trial process because she learned additional details about her child’s abuse and struggled coping with that knowledge. The client expressed gratitude for having the Advocate there with her throughout the trial. The Advocate suggested the client come back to the Center for counseling to cope with the additional information she learned about her child’s abuse during the trial process. She was thankful for the continued availability of support.
