DOGE Interested in Ending Time Change

Elon Musk and Vivek Ramaswamy's Department of Government Efficiency (DOGE) is considering the issue of Daylight Savings Time. While there appears to be broad annoyance with the practice of Americans having to change their clocks twice a year, that is where the agreement ends.

Some organizations have expressed opposition to the prospect of going to Daylight Savings Time year round, because some cities would see sunrises as late as 9 AM during part of the year, which raises safety issues for kids waiting for school buses, and well as other concerns.

Disagreement over whether to go to permanent Standard Time or Daylight Savings Time tends to be regional rather than partisan. Ultimately, the inability of morning people and night owls to reach agreement means that the current system may continue for the foreseeable future.

A lawsuit filed in the South Carolina Supreme Court challenged the Department of Education's policy that prohibited parents from using their scholarship money to pay for tuition at private schools.
