Welcome New Trainers

LAURA OLIVA
Laura

I am a lifelong mover, and have been in love with activities that combine athleticism with artistry since I was barely big enough to walk. Gymnastics, figure skating, competitive marching band color guard (Sound of Sun Prairie alum), Pilates, pole dancing, and aerial dance (dance trapeze, aerial hoop, sling, and silks) have all played crucial parts in my journey and heavily inform my personal training methods and philosophy. I am an active member of the Madison Circus Space, where I spend much of my time challenging my body and my mind by flying through the air and spinning on a variety of apparatuses.

I became a personal trainer in 2006, born out of a burning desire to help other people avoid the frustration of trying to figure out fitness on their own. I also saw that many people, especially women, were suffering needlessly - punishing themselves with unsustainable restrictive diets, hours of random cardio, and not nearly enough of any activities that were FUN and INTERESTING! It has been a core piece of my mission to help clients shift away from fitness as strictly a calorie-burning punishment to fitness as a vehicle for deep and lasting physical and mental transformation. My methodology includes functional strength training, balance/flexibility/mobility play, mindful movement, and teaching sustainable and realistic ways to build fitness into your life.

As an ACE-certified personal trainer, my specialties are strength training for women, strength/balance/mobility/flexibility training for older adults, and creating fitness programming accessible for clients with injuries or other physical limitations. I love what I do, and I am excited to share my love for fitness with the community at Supreme Health and Fitness!

ALYSSA RAMOS
Alyssa

During my sophomore year of college, my health seemed to take a turn for the worse. I struggled to find answers and constantly felt miserable. After feeling sorry for myself, I decided it was time to take matters into my own hands. I knew I could at least get my body moving, so I did. Being able to move your body is powerful! I learned about weight training, HIIT workouts, and anything else I could do at the local gym. This transformed my life; and ultimately, I became certified in personal training. There are so many lessons I have learned on my journey, and I cannot wait to share that knowledge with others.
If you want to learn how to get moving, please contact Supreme Health and Fitness at (608) 274-5080 or email Alyssa at ajramos23@gmail.com

Playroom Update
HalloweenBaby

News from the Playroom

Check out our New Floor:  The playroom floor were sanded and refinished recently.  Come peek in to see how it looks.  (Thanks Joe for all the hard work!!)  Thank you everyone for your patience during the work and as we continue to make other improvements!!

Wanted:  Front Pack Baby Carrier:  With the big influx of newborns in the playroom, we could really use a front pack baby carrier.  If you have one that you are no longer using and it is easy to wash, please consider donating it to the playroom.  Thanks for thinking of us!!

Water Bottles/Snacks:Please bring in a water bottle and snack for your child when they come to the playroom.  Kids are often hungry and thirsty when they come in and need something to hold them over until you are back from working out.  Please make sure to label each item with their name also.

No Toys from Home Please:  Please refrain from bringing toys from home into the playroom. This will help minimizeissues related to sharing favorite toys as well as sharing germs brought from home.

Signing In/Out:  Please remember to complete the sign in/out process as you are arriving and as you are leaving with your children.  This helps us accurately know the number of children in the playroom at any point in time (and helps with staffing appropriately.) Also, please be specific on where you are in the club (especially if your children are in the diaper and potty- training ages).

Playroom health and wellness:  The flu and cold season is upon us. To help keep bugs from being shared in the playroom, please have your child stay home if they are showing signs of a cold, flu or any other contagious illness.  This will help keep staff and other families that use the playroom healthy.

o  Below are some guidelines:

  • If your child has experienced any of the following symptoms within the last 24 hours (a fever of 100º or more, vomiting, diarrhea, severe nausea, runny nose), please keep your child at home.

  • If you have any doubts about your child's health, DO NOT bring them in that day.  This will help to keep us all healthier.
  •  The playroom reserves the right to send any child home that MAY be contagious to others.

Halloween Night Playroom Hours
Since many of the kids will be out trick or treating that evening, the playroom will be closed from 4-8:00PM. We will be open as usual in the morning from 8:30AM - 1:30PM.

Top 10 Reasons to Hire a Personal Trainer
Personal Training
Looking for more direction in your workouts?  We have 14 certified personal trainers on staff to help you!  Just want a quick refresher or introduction?  Consider signing up for a FREE (for contracted members- $20 for month to month) fitness orientation!  Below are some reasons provided by the American Council on Exercise as to why you should give PT a shot!

1. Motivation

Most of us work harder in the presence of others. Having a trainer by your side can provide the encouragement, energy and motivation you need to jumpstart your routine. A trainer can also help you set goals, create a plan to accomplish them and celebrate the day you reach them.

2. Consistency

Do you find it difficult to stick with a program or habit? A trainer can hold you accountable and help you overcome all the excuses you might use to avoid your commitment to exercise. It's a lot harder to skip the gym when you know someone is waiting for you.

3. Clarity

Fitness can be confusing. There is a lot of information to sort through. Eat this, not that. Cardio before or after strength training? Your trainer can help you find credible information and provide direction on your fitness journey. A trainer can help remove the guesswork so you can put all your energy toward accomplishing your goals.

4. Confidence

The gym can be intimidating. Working with a trainer allows you to become confident with how to perform exercises, use machines and navigate the facility. After a few sessions, you will feel ready to tackle the weight room on your own. Even better, an ego boost during exercise can promote stronger self-confidence and self-efficacy, which can help you stick with your exercise program over the long term.

5. Avoid Injury

If you are new to exercise or find that some movements are painful, it is worth hiring a trainer to be certain that you are moving in a safe and effective way. Taking the time to learn proper exercise technique can improve your results and prevent annoying injuries.

6. Individual Attention

When it comes to fitness, everyone is different. Your unique body mechanics, experience, goals, fitness level, likes and dislikes can guide your trainer in creating a plan that is specific to your needs. With a program that fits, you are more likely to maintain the habit and see results.

7. Sport-specific Training

Do you want to run your first 5K or prepare for a backpacking trip? Looking to shave some strokes off your golf game? Your trainer can design a fitness program specific to your sport, which will improve your performance and reduce your chance of injury during the event(s).

8. Training With Medical Conditions

Exercise is beneficial for preventing or managing many common chronic conditions such as diabetes, heart disease and hypertension. However, exercising with a medical condition requires additional precautions. A knowledgeable trainer with experience training clients with chronic conditions can design a program that ensures your safety and provides a positive exercise experience.

9. Aging Gracefully

Our bodies change as we age. Perhaps the exercises you used to do no longer work with your body, or maybe you've stopped seeing results. A trainer can help you adjust or adapt your program as you age, which will allow you to maintain functionality and strength.

10. FUN

Believe it or not, exercise can be enjoyable. A savvy personal trainer can make exercise both effective and fun. Group or buddy training can be a great way to increase enjoyment, make exercise social and attain the services of a trainer for a cheaper rate. And simply working with a trainer who you like and respect can be enough to provide you with more gratification from your workouts.
