Please come out and join us tomorrow, Saturday February 12th at Noon, and meet Monica Agnew-Kinnaman (Nikki to her friends) who served in the anti-aircraft artillery of the British Army during the Battle of Britain. We're throwing her a surprise birthday party -- she's 104!
Museum Historian and Curator, Col. Gene Pfeffer (USAF-ret.), will make a special presentation at the event titled "The Battle of Britain, the Blitz, the Missiles, and the Women Who Served." It will highlight the heroic contributions made by women in this critical time in WWII.
As a member of an anti-aircraft gun crew, Dr. Agnew-Kinnaman (she later earned a PhD in psychology) would help track German aircraft. In addition to serving as spotters, women in the anti-aircraft gun crews also served on predictor teams to determine the fusing of anti-aircraft artillery shells.
