Sunday School

This Sunday is Surprise Sunday and Redemption Store! This month, we’ll learn about how Care Ministry serves our community and discover ways we can help. As part of our morning, we will be touring Care Ministry's new addition. We are also hoping to help them stock up by collecting the following items:

  • Syrup
  • Jelly
  • Cake mix
  • Frosting
  • Spices
  • Sauces and gravy

Where to meet:

Preschool: Meet in your usual classroom

Kindergarten–4th Grade: Meet in the Green Room

5th Grade: Meet in the Jr. High Room (off the Life Center)

A Special Note for 5th Grade Families

Our 5th graders will join the Jr. High Bible Study during Surprise Sundays. This is a fun opportunity for them to get a glimpse of what’s ahead and get excited as they prepare to move up to Jr. High next year. The Jr. High Room is located off the Life Center, and someone at the Sunday School table can help your child find it. And don’t worry—5th graders will still get to visit the Redemption Store!

Advent: A Season of Fellowship, Food, and Faith!

We need some helping hands to keep our wonderful tradition of Advent fellowship and meals going strong! With our special worship services beginning in just six short weeks, we're looking for volunteers to help serve meals, lend a hand in the kitchen, or bring a dish or side to share.

For many years, we've been richly blessed by the loving service of Lil Mulvaney and her faithful team of saints, who have made these gatherings such a joy! We thank God for their generous hearts and helping hands. This year, some of our faithful volunteers are recovering and need a little extra help.

What a wonderful opportunity for others to join in the joy of serving! Whether you can help for one evening or throughout the season, your participation would be a blessing. Serving together is also a wonderful way to build new friendships!

Most of all, may this coming Advent season, beginning December 2, fill our hearts with gratitude, love, and joyful anticipation as we gather to celebrate the abundant blessings of our King of Kings and Lord of Lords, Jesus Christ!

Advent services are on December 2, 9, and 16* at 12:15 and 6:00 p.m. Meals are served in the Life Center at 11:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m.

*The children's Tone Chime Choir will be performing at the evening service on December 16th.

60+ Group: Lunch with Pastor Matt

Please join us on Thursday, November 12th, at 11:30 in Miller Hall.

Pastor Matt Albright has officially joined our Redeemer family! We are so pleased that we will be working together on the important work of spreading the Word of Jesus. Pastor Matt and wife Haley are new to Peoria, and we have this time to learn a bit more about them. Come to hear about what he sees as the focus of our mission and the importance of how we can be all that God wants of us.

Hosts for this gathering are Rhonda and Ken Kruse. As we continue to celebrate 250th Anniversary of our country, and as Veterans’ Day is November 11, our hosts are bringing out the red, white, and blue. Lunch this month will include Avanti’s gondolas. If your last name starts with A-K please bring a salad, and if L-Z a dessert to share. We ask for $5.00 per person to help cover the cost of food and drinks. Reservations for this event need to be confirmed no later than Monday, November 9th!

Sign up sheet will be posted on the bulletin board in the office hallway. If you have any questions, please contact Ken Stoppenhagen or Becky Auer.

All are welcome so bring a friend!!

Thank You!

We did it and it brought JOY to many! With gratitude for the FAITHFULNESS of those folks that helped to make the Pastor Appreciation Breakfast possible as a time of fellowship, KINDNESS and LOVE.

Music for Missions

St. John's Lutheran Church in Pekin is once again hosting a Sacred Music Concert and Hymn Sing, this year in support of University Lutheran Church, our LCMS Central Illinois District Campus Ministry at the University of Illinois in Champaign, on Sunday, November 15, 2026 at 2:00 p.m.

We will join together in singing some hymns, and in listening to sacred organ, choir, vocal solo, and hand bell music, all under the theme, “Oh, Give Thanks to the Lord.” Featured musicians will include guest organist Samuel Bishop, vocalist Allison Harley and the combined choirs and hand bell ensembles of St. John's and Trinity, Pekin.

A free will offering will be gathered to help support our University Lutheran Church in Champaign, which is served by Pastor Michael Schuermann. Refreshments will be served following the program.

Please set aside the time to participate in and enjoy the music program, and to support our Central Illinois District mission work. The church is located at 711 Court Street in Pekin. For more information you may contact the church office at 309-347-2136.

RightNow Media Series

RightNow Media is a wonderful resource available to our members offering a wide range of topics. Every month we plan to suggest a video series and provide a guide for individual learning and reflection.

Our October recommendation is: Essential of Faith: Series 2 - Why Does Jesus Matter?

What makes Jesus such an important person? In this six-session series, pastor and author J.D. Greear will answer the question, “Why does Jesus matter?” He’ll explore who Jesus is, why he came, and what he said and did, to help us understand the life-changing effect Jesus had—and continues to have—on the world. Join J.D. and see the difference that Jesus can make in your life.

If you do not yet have a RightNowMedia account, see Jeff Shoumaker to be linked with Redeemer’s subscription.
