Ensuring that Jasper County School District does well in serving our ML/ESOL students is a top priority, given the shifting demographics in Jasper County. Our Director of ML/ESOL, Dawn Thayer, Mr. Jorge Caro, and Dr. Matttie Butts, attended the SETESOL Conference in Myrtle Beach. There, they were able to participate in work sessions that will help JCSD stay at the cutting edge of serving ESOL students. The 2 ML teachers and Mrs. Thayer were able to divide and conquer at this year's SETESOL conference at Myrtle Beach. The team was able to connect and share what they plan to bring back to the ML team, building principals and general education teachers. The SETESOL Conference allows administrators and educators to share innovative practices and creative initiatives, discuss best practices, and learn about successful strategies that lead to greater success for our region’s multilingual learners (MLs) and their families. |
