Survey: Providing Input on Ontario’s Proposed Amendments to HSP Regulation

Dear Automotive Materials Stewardship,

We wanted to follow up on our recent communication related to proposed amendments to the Hazardous and Special Products (HSP) Regulation (O. Reg 449/21) under the Resource Recovery and Circular Economy Act, 2016 (RRCEA) by the Ministry of the Environment, Conservation and Parks (MECP).

The proposed amendments were posted on the Environmental Registry of Ontario, including a plain language version. Currently, there is a 45-day consultation period underway, from September 5October 20, 2024. During this time, key stakeholders are asked to provide their comments and feedback to the government.

As part of this process, Automotive Materials Stewardship (AMS) will be providing a written submission to the MECP and would like to gather your comments. To streamline the feedback process, we have created a Stakeholder Survey which outlines our perspective on several of the proposed amendments to the HSP Regulation that impact automotive HSP (antifreeze, oil containers and oil filters).

In order for your feedback to be included in our submission, please complete this survey by EOD Friday, October 4, 2024.

All feedback will be carefully considered, and we will follow up to provide an update after the consultation period.
