NOTES FROM THE PRESIDENT

We asked and you answered!

During the month of January we surveyed our membership and your responses came back with enthusiasm. Our members were thoughtful, truthful and honest in answering the questions. The staff will use this information to better serve our members. Here are some of the highlights:
  • This is the only chamber for the majority of our members. Sixty-six percent of you said the Bethlehem Chamber is the only Chamber you belong to.
  • Our members represent small businesses. Fifty-seven percent of you work for businesses with five employees or less.
  • The two issues that were the biggest concerns for our members are workforce development and regulatory issues.

Thank you to all that participated in the survey. As part of the survey we were giving away one member a $500 digital marketing package. Congratulations to Wildbird Junction Backyard Nature Shoppe on winning the prize.

We had other winners this week. We gave away Enhanced Directory Listings at our Chamber Vision 2019 event. The enhanced listings went to Melanie McCully at To Life! and Kelly Bailey at Kinderhook Bank . These listings allow the businesses to include their logo, photos, videos, and a significant increase to their business description. Enhanced listing also receive priority placement in their categories.

Did you know that our online member directory is the most popular page on our website? Call us to find out how you can enhance your directory listing.

The Albany County Legislature’s law committee will discuss the proposed Paid Sick leave legislation at its next meeting on February 28. Legislators are waiting for a report on the financial impact on businesses of the proposed legislation before voting on this proposal. The proposal calls for paid sick leave for any employee working in a business located in Albany county who works more than 80 hours in a calendar year. Details of the proposal can be read on the legislature’s website. Questions or comments can be directed to county legislators.
