Dear Friends,

This 19th anniversary of Tuesday, September 11th will be different in many ways, but one constant all our families can count on is that we are here to support them every day, for a lifetime of healing.

Even as this global pandemic continues to affect our day-to-day lives, we are pleased to highlight some of the incredible ways our community came together this summer through dozens of virtual programs and workshops, e-Mentoring connections and more.

Through these programs, Tuesday's Children is addressing some of the acute needs we have been hearing from our families. A survey we conducted last month showed that the COVID-19 crisis is taking a heavy toll on Tuesday's Children families—while 81% say they have experienced anxiety or isolation as a result of the pandemic, 90% reported that our virtual programs have helped with social connection.

We know this crisis is not over, and with the upcoming school year and the uncertainty so many families face, we will continue innovating with new virtual programs and supportive services that can ease the burden on parents and keep kids active and engaged.

See below for details on some of our upcoming events to keep our community connected and grow our organization, from a month-long feature on Times Square, to the Rise Up and Remember Virtual 5K and our first ever Virtual Rise Up for Resilience Gala. We encourage all our families, friends, partners and supporters to join these events and stay tuned as we add new opportunities to our program calendar.

Help us continue to provide vital resilience-building programs to families impacted by terrorism, military conflict and mass violence.

With warmest regards,
Terry

Survey Results: How the COVID-19 Crisis is Impacting Our Families

This summer, we surveyed Tuesday's Children families about the impact the pandemic was having on them, families who have already endured great trauma and loss due to terrorism, military conflict or mass violence. The results are devastating.
In the wake of the COVID-19 outbreak, Tuesday's Children shifted to virtual service delivery and has hosted more than 30 online programs since April of 2020. We are proud to report it is making a difference for those we serve and is a desperately needed source of connection during this socially distanced time.
Now, more than ever, your support is vitally needed to help Tuesday's Children continue to provide these life-changing programs.
Mentor Spotlight: Lindsay and Eva

Eva, a Gold Star child, lives in Teaneck, NJ with her mom and sister. She loves card games, puzzles and her two hairless cats. Eva coped with her father's many deployments and then his passing in service to our country last year. Eva's mom was looking for someone who could offer Eva a safe space and the chance to share her many talents and interests. That's where Lindsay comes in.

A second grade teacher who also lost her father at a young age, Lindsay loves theatre, reading, cooking, museums and, like Eva, puzzles. While she has been eyeing the Tuesday's Children Mentoring Program for a while, she felt her unique summer break granted by the pandemic was the catalyst that prompted her involvement.

If there's one positive that has come out of these unprecedented times, this match might be it! The two formed a quick bond during their initial virtual introduction and plan to pursue a "hybrid" match going forward that includes both in-person and digital meetings. When it is safe to do so, they will get together for a puzzle visit!
We are also celebrating a match anniversary this month!

We are excited to highlight Christian, a Gold Star child, and Ron, his volunteer Mentor, who celebrated their one-year match anniversary on August 1st. Ron has introduced Christian to so many new adventures, including their shared passion for the volunteer fire department in their local community.
We're always looking for in-person Youth Mentors, online e-Mentors and Career Mentors. To get involved, please contact [email protected].
