I work at a church discipling and counseling women. I’ve taught a couple of breakout sessions at our annual women’s conferences, and enjoyed it, but am a novice at speaking to large groups of women.
What can I do as I wait on God to guide my steps in this area of kingdom work? How did you become involved in speaking at women’s events? What are some of your best practices for speaking/teaching? How did the Lord lead you in this direction? Did you receive specific speaking training or is it a spiritual gift?
After the Lord saved me, I developed a hunger to know His word & pass it on to other women. I began to study & memorize the Bible & write studies for the ladies in my church. I never intended to do anything but that. After many years of writing studies for the ladies in my church, it was suggested I think about publishing my studies. I sought counsel & began the journey. The speaking came later, but nothing I sought. I would be asked on occasion to speak, but never sought any speaking engagements. I want to be a vessel fit for the Master's use, and if this is how He chooses to use me, then I am humbled and grateful. I owe everything to the Lord and His mercy.
I did take some classes in expository teaching, took a little Greek, & learned proper hermeneutics & homiletics.
I would not seek anything for yourself, but if you think God is calling you to do this, then prepare yourself by knowing His Word & living it. Start now pouring into others. I would also pray for God's will & seek godly counsel in your life to see if this is truly something God has for you.
