Suspect Arrested in Connection with Fremont and DePaul Attacks

Community Meeting -
Redevelopment of Edith Spurlock
Sampson Apartments
2640-2720 N Sheffield
Dear Neighbors,

The U.S. Marshals Service has apprehended the person wanted for the July 13 attack on Fremont . An arrest warrant for Adam Bramwell, 32, was issued a few days ago. He was arrested Wednesday afternoon outside Houston, Texas.

Bramwell is also a "person of interest" in connection with the horrible stabbing of a young woman on Halsted Street on July 18.

According to press accounts in the Sun-Times and the Chicago Tribune , " Bramwell used an alias to board a Greyhound bus from Houston to Phoenix. Members of the Gulf Coast Violent Offenders and Fugitive Task Force intercepted the bus in Conroe — about 45 miles north of Houston — and found Bramwell in the back row of the bus, where he was taken into custody."

Bramwell was also sought for violating parole, according to police. WGN also covered the story.

We want to thank Chicago Police and the U.S. Marshall's service for their outstanding work on this case. We will be following this case with the 18th District in the Court Advocacy program, and encourage neighbors to attend court. If you would like to join as a Court Advocate, please contact Officer Al Robinson, .

St. George Orthodox Church
2701 N. Sheffield Ave.

Please join my office and the Wrightwood Neighbors Association (WNA) at a
community meeting to discuss the proposed redevelopment of the Edith Spurlock Sampson Apartments, located at 2640-2720 North Sheffield Avenue.

The project, supported by CHA funds, will bring renovated apartments, new community spaces, and new amenities for current and future residents. The plan calls for the construction of a new building that will be linked to the two senior apartment towers. The proposed new structure would be six-stories tall and contain 80 units that will provide affordable as well as market-rate apartments for the general public.

Here is the meeting notice. I hope you can join my office and WNA to engage in a direct dialogue with the applicant to gain a better understanding of this proposal and obtain answers to your questions. My office will be present at this meeting to monitor the discussion, take notes and record your comments.
Enjoy your weekend,

Michele Smith
