The deadline for all 5th graders who wish to submit an artwork entry for the cover of the 5th Grade yearbook is tomorrow, Monday, March 9th. The winner will be announced on Thursday, March 12th. Details below.

Our biggest fundraiser of the year, the Color Run, is May 8th. Parent volunteers are needed. If you would like to join our planning committee, kindly respond to this email.

Lastly, our search for a few new HSA Board Members next year has begun. If you would like more information, please let us know!

School Store is this Friday, March 13! We need some volunteers!


Ms. Kelly in the media center is looking for some supplies! We need shoe boxes, cardboard tubes, green felt, bouncy balls, and sticks! A supply list went home last week. They may be sent in with your child or dropped off in the front vestibule.

Our specials teachers also need tissues! Science, Art, Spanish, Library and Gym are in need of these items! Please send in with your child or drop off at school!

IEP Panel Discussion - Calm Your Fears: March 12th - MSD SEPAG Event

The Morris School District Special Education Parent Advisory Group (SEPAG) is a newly re-established group that seeks to encourage honest and effective communication, collaboration, understanding and mutual respect in a supportive partnership, inclusive of all students, parents, educators, and the community at large. Our mission is to foster collaboration between students, parents, community members, administration, staff, and the Board of Education, for the purpose of improving the quality of district-wide special education policies, programs and practices. 

As we begin to launch our activities, we are seeking input from parents/guardians. Please take the (short!) survey and let us know your thoughts. Stay tuned for announcements about our upcoming events, new Facebook page and more!

5th graders! Do you want your artwork on the front cover of Sussex Avenue’s 5th grade yearbook? Well, if your entry is one of the winners of the 2019-2020 5th Grade Yearbook Cover Contest, it can be! All you have to do is follow the rules listed below, and turn in your entry to the main office by
the due date.

Sussex Avenue School 5th Grade Yearbook Cover Contest Rules:

1. The artwork has to be the original work of the 5th-grade student.
2. All artwork must be vertical on an 8.5” x 11” sheet of paper.
3. Only one (1) entry per student.
4. Your art must include the school name and school year: “Sussex Avenue School”
and “2019-2020”.
5. Do NOT use any copyrighted images or trademarks from the internet in your
6. When creating your artwork, be careful that your artwork does NOT have eraser
marks, smudges, unwanted pencil marks, and so forth, since the scanner will copy
the artwork as is. If you are coloring the background, white areas should NOT be
7. Use any medium to create your artwork, but it must be scannable. Make it
8. Please write your first and last name and homeroom teacher with pencil on the back of your artwork before submitting.
9.Artwork must be turned into the main office by Monday, March 9th
10. Late submissions will NOT be accepted.
11. The winner will be announced on Thursday March 12th .

When a childless baker and his wife, Cinderella, Jack (of Beanstalk fame), Rapunzel, Little Red Riding Hood and favorite characters venture into the woods seeking their hearts' desire, they get a lot more than they bargained for.

Featuring Sondheim’s most celebrated music, this Tony Award-winning musical will take you into a twisted, fantastic, fairytale world where “happily ever after” is just the beginning. Anything can happen in the woods: dreams come true and spells are broken but even happiness has consequences.
