Sussex Avenue HSA Weekly Bulletin:
October 1-5

Monday will be a "D" day
A note from our Co-Presidents

We had quite a busy week last week! It was great seeing everyone who attended Back to School NIght and our HSA Meeting. Clubs are off to a great start and it was great seeing all the children in their blue and white(and pink) Sussex Spirit Wear!

Fall Fundraiser material was sent home with all the students last Friday. Please take a look and remember to submit your orders by October 12.

The HSA is putting together its annual Student Directory. If you would like to be listed, please see details and follow the link in the section below.

This week will be Respect Week at Sussex! Each day will be themed. Monday is favorite hat day; Tuesday wear backwards/crazy clothes; Wednesday wear your favorite jersey or team shirt; Thursday is Pajama day; and Friday wear bright colors! The week will end with a Kindness for Christopher Assembly on Friday. Each child will paint a rock which will then be permanently displayed in the front flower beds of the school. Please read Mrs. Vaccaro's newsletter below for more details.

Have a great week!

Kathleen Kalaher Humbert and Kristin Deleppo

Please indicate the size and send the order form in with payment via backpack mail to the Sussex HSA (attn: Karen Doyle/Ms. Folmar's class). School Directory .

The Sussex HSA publishes an annual school directory that lists the names of students and parents/guardians, addresses, phone numbers and emails. Many families find the directory useful when planning social activities, communicating with other families about homework, or helping with HSA committee work. If you would like to be included in the Directory please use the link below (also on our website) to complete the online form. Please note, we will only be collecting this information electronically. A paper form will be not sent home. The information collected on this form will only be used by the HSA for publication in the Sussex Avenue Directory.

An Evening with Justyn Comer,
meditation practitioner & author of
Meditation for Life
Thursday, October 4, 2018, 7 PM
Morristown High School
Presented by the Lauren and Emily Failla Foundation & the Morris Educational Foundation

In today's stressful world, it is difficult to find the time to quiet the mind, yet research shows mindfulness meditation reduces stress and anxiety as well as provides a ground for mental clarity and reflection. This school year, the Lauren and Emily Failla Foundation in conjunction with the Morris Educational Foundation has introduced secular Daily Mindful Meditation practice to Morristown High School students to help with student stress. This program also includes a parent session to share the benefits of this practice.

Please join Justyn Comer, meditation practitioner, and teacher of mindful meditation, author of Meditation for Life, and founder of non-profit Real World Meditation as he shares how practicing mental exercises can help our students navigate their stressful world.

We encourage all parents to attend this powerful session. If possible, please email  [email protected]  to RSVP

The Morris Educational Foundation is the non-profit partner of the Morris School District. Last year we provided $150,000 in classroom grants in all 10 Morris School District Schools.
