It's been a great transition back to school and we hope your children are settling into their new routines.    

Thanks to all those who contributed to our Staff Appreciation Lunch last week. A special thanks to Melissa Johnson who organized this great event celebrating our terrific staff.

We have a busy week ahead of us! Our Welcome Back to School Picnic will take place on Monday, September 17, 2018 at 6pm. Rain is in the forecast and if it does rain the event will move inside the gym. This week there will be no school on Wednesday for Yom Kippur.  Finally, our first school store will take place on Friday, September 21 st . 
 
Fall Clubs will be starting soon and information was sent home with your student last week. Clubs fill quickly so act fast! More information on this is below.

FIRST SCHOOL STORE OF THE YEAR

We are looking for volunteers for the School Store being held this Friday, Sept 21. We are still in need of volunteers to help during the 5th and 4th grade lunches. The school store is a great opportunity to see your child and their friends during lunch. It's also really fun to help the children shop!

Here are the school store times :
School Store setup: 11:00am - 11:45am
3rd Grade: 11:50am - 12:30pm
5th Grade: 12:30pm - 1:10pm
4th Grade: 1:10pm - 1:50pm

Consider helping out for a lunch period or a time that works best for you. We appreciate any time you can give! Please email Lynn Gutkin ( [email protected] ) if you can come in. We cannot run the school without the help of our Sussex Avenue community. 
SUSSEX AVENUE FALL CLUBS! !

It's time to sign up for Fall HSA Clubs!! Clubs will begin on Monday, September 24th and run through Friday, November 2nd depending on the day of your club. Each club meets one day per week starting immediately after school (approximately 3:30) and ending at 4:30.
There are lots of options to choose from! This fall we will offer the following clubs: Basketball Club, Ooey-Gooey Concoctions Club, Mind Benders Club, Running Club, Lego Club, Coloring Club, Art Club and Latin Dance Club.

Information was sent home last week with your student. A copy of the sign-up form can be found by clicking HERE . Clubs are filled on a first come first served basis so get your forms in quickly!

Fall Fundraiser - Volunteer needed!

Fall Family Fun Night Picnic - COME JOIN THE FUN!!

Monday, September 17 at 6pm

Grab your soccer ball, kick ball or volleyball for games on the back fields or just hit the playground with friends!! Bring your blanket and lawn chairs if you choose and let's have some fun! In case of rain this event will be moved inside the gym.

Water will be provided and Kona Ice will be available to purchase!
SAVE THE DATE - Harlem Wizards Event

Normandy Park School is sponsoring a district wide Harlem Wizards event on December 8. All are invited. Sussex HSA will receive a portion of the proceeds attributed to Sussex families that attend. We will have teachers representing Sussex on the team! More information to come!

GIRL SCOUTS

GROW IT GREEN

On Saturday, September 22nd from 3-6pm, Grow it Green will be hosting "Alfresco at the Farm". This is a family event that puts a new urban twist on the traditional country fair! Please click HERE for more information.
