Sussex Foodie News, May 2012
Dear Sussex Foodies,
Herb gardens are at last bearing fruit - a sure sign of spring - and although a bit sodden, orchards are definitely looking more promising this year. The blossom is all being knocked off by the rain, but it started out much more beautiful than last year, so I'm expectant of good fruit in 2012! I don't know if you have noticed it too, but Sussex farmers seem to be growing a lot more rape seed this year and it's quickly and dramatically become a spectacular florescent yellow part of the landscape - superb!
Meantime, the Sussex Food & Drink Awards 2011/12 need your help in nominating the best local food producers, farmers and outlets - and the best young chefs in Sussex - last chance now, so please go to  www.sussexfoodawards.biz

Sussex food and drink businesses - an international opportunityBrighton & Hove Food and Drink Festival

Liz Cadman at Sussex Enterprise is working with the Dieppe Chamber of Commerce on a project to promote cross-border trade between companies in Sussex and the Dieppe region.

She is looking for food and drink businesses that are interested in trading with France.  They can be exporting already or new to exporting. Companies which sign up to the project will receive a range of useful, free Euro-trade support - see www.deedsbtob.com. You are also invited to attend an event in Sussex on the evening of 22nd May, where the business opportunities in France will be explained with advice on how to do business in the area.  For further information, click here.
