Our thanks to...
We're grateful to these organisations, who have supported some of the festival events this year: The Big Lottery, Cumbria County Council, Electricity North West, Historic England, Esmée Fairbairn Foundation and South Lakeland District Council.

Thank you also to a range of other organisations, businesses and hosts who for taking part and making it possible for us to offer such a great range of events. You'll see them mentioned in the details for the events they're supporting.
In other news...
#ReadyForRain house is a go!
Planning permission has been granted for the #ReadyForRain house in Appleby that's being transformed from a flooded property into a flood resilient, cosy home. Hooray!

It's very exciting to see the works getting under way at 33a Chapel Street. We stopped by for a visit on Monday, and the team from Lake District Lime are getting on well with the initial stripping out.
Most of the old cement render on the inside walls has been chipped off now, revealing some interesting features... an old door opening and fireplaces. With the cement gone, the walls can begin to dry out.

The first of the professionally-made fortnightly vlogs following the build will go online within the next few weeks. In the meantime, you can watch our CAfS in-house amateur production, introducing the house and some of the people involved in the project!

Meanwhile, don't miss the chance to visit the house at our open day during Green Build Festival. Book your free places now
Sustainable Staveley publishes new films online
Sustainable Staveley has produced a set of six short films, exploring different sustainability themes in their area.

The videos look at farming, allotments, making and doing, young people, housing and a sense of community and creativity through the lens of carnival.

They're the work of a range of film-makers, and were supported by Locally Important Projects (LIP) funding, via South Lakeland District Council. The aim is to help stimulate discussions within the community on sustainability matters and contribute to a vision of Staveley in the future.

Sit back and enjoy!
