New Organics Law: SB 1383

SB 1383 (Short-Lived Climate Pollutant Reduction law) went into effect in 2022 and affects all Californians. The law requires that everyone - residents, businesses and schools - keep compostable waste out of our landfills.

How to comply:

  • Subscribe to recycling and organics collection. In Mill Valley and Tiburon these services are automatically included through Mill Valley Refuse Service

  • Sort out all recyclables and organic waste from the trash

Zero Emissions Landscaping

Beginning 2024, California will ban the sales of new gas-powered tools under 25 horsepower. Many towns and cities in Marin already have their own small engine ban.

Tiburon: Ban on gas powered leaf blowers and gas powered hedge trimmers

Mill Valley: Ban on all gas powered leaf blowers

Explore how you can help and see more information on the ordinances.

Are you a business or contractor? Apply for a tool voucher through the Clean Off-Road Equipment (CORE) voucher incentive project. This fund will provide small businesses (100 employees or less) with up to $25,000 in tool and battery vouchers.
