Healthcare and Ministry
Four current doctors and medical students from Kenya, Nigeria, Uganda and Zimbabwe share their thoughts on healthcare in their communities as well as the role of churches and ministries in medical treatments.  Their stories are amazing and inspiring, but it is equally incredible to see such strong, young leaders who are eager to bring about change and share the love of Christ.

Special thanks to the New Hope media team in Ukraine for helping with shooting and editing Lincoln and Bassey's clips.

SMM conference
2014 Medical Conferences
Conferences will cover training on Neglected Tropical Diseases; a medical process to improve medical care (Zero in on ZeroTM); and what it means to be a Christian healthcare leader.  Conference attendees will include doctors, nurses, health administrators, and pastors.
  • May 9 & 10 - Kharkiv, Ukraine          Register    (*see note*)
  • August 1 & 2 - Kampala, Uganda     Register
  • August 8 & 9 - Nairobi, Kenya          Register
However, these conferences are not the end of our interactions, they are just the beginning.  Continued engagement, access to resources, and collaboration in country and across the globe will be facilitated to help these leaders transform their communities in the ways they know God is directing them.

Curriculum Nearing Completion
Thanks to countless hours from contributing authors from Kenya, Nigeria, Tanzania, Uganda, Ukraine, and Zimbabwe as well as staff, volunteers, and Board members our curriculum is nearly completed.  While content will continue to be refined over time, this international team has helped put together a top level training that not only focuses on the important educational components but also highlights the role of relationships and integrating the local church in medical care. This curriculum will serve as the teaching material for all Sustainable Med conferences throughout the world.
First Year in Review (2013)
What an amazing first year!  God really provided in some incredible ways that far exceeded our expectations.  We are so grateful for the generous contributions made by so many of you in the past year as well.  Here are just a few of the many highlights:
  •  Relationships, relationships, relationships.  Research was key during the first year but getting to know so many of you was a significant part of our work and success. The US based connections were incredible as well as the 75 medical and community leaders in Kenya and Uganda and over 30 African medical students in Ukraine.
  • Incredible partnerships developed including: Burnham Ministries International, Call of Love, Global CHE Network, Helping Hands Foreign Missions, Hope Church (Mason), New Hope Church (Ukraine), and World Concern.  This does not even include the many partnerships with individuals or the numerous connections made in the first quarter of this year.
  • Strategic shift from focusing on training community health workers and setting up our own pilot sites to investing in the resourcing of healthcare leaders and letting those who God called to lead their communities determine the best strategies for care and spreading the love of Christ.
  • Setup of all organizational elements: 501(c)3, Board of Directors, Bylaws, Policies, websites, databases
  • Incredible generosity in giving by many of you: Over $108,000

"In addition to providing world class training and creating meaningful relationships, our hope is that we will be known as the best partnering agency.  Not only will we coordinate care and share resources, but we will actively support our partners through promoting their work, attending their events, and have us and/or our donors support them financially."
