Introducing Sustainable Sponsorships

The Toothpaste Challenge Package

True Change Comes from Many People Making Little Changes and Different Choices

The Challenge to Recycling Oral Care Items

Toothpaste tubes are usually made of different types of plastics, and many brands contain a metal layer inside the tube which isn't easy to separate for recycling purposes.

On average, it takes 500 years for a tube to fully biodegrade in a landfill.

Over 1.5 billion toothpaste tubes and 5 billion plastic toothbrushes are discarded worldwide each year

They end up in landfills or worse,

in our oceans.

10 million tons of plastic are dumped in our oceans annually - that’s equal to more than a garbage truckload every minute. There will be more plastic than fish in our oceans by 2050 according to The Ellen MacArthur Foundation.

As of Today...

We have not been able to find a vendor that uses a 4 color eco-friendly printing process with sustainable ink on jute or sisal. These materials are biodegradable and don't need to be recycled like cotton.

We are working on a solution but let us know if you know of a vendor.

Don't Get Greenwashed by Bamboo,

Our Toothbrushes are 100% Biodegradable

Most bamboo toothbrushes have plastic bristles. Many brands claim to be BPA-free but the bristles would need to be removed to be recycled.

Our vendor's toothbrushes are made from sustainable corn husk and starch. They are fully biodegradable and individually packaged in 100% recyclable materials.

Glee is Committed to the Environment

The boxes are wrapped in biodegradable cellophane, not plastic, and can be composted along with the box, itself.

Although Colgate Recently Introduced Recyclable Packaging,

They are Made from Traditional Plastic and the Toothpaste Ingredients are Still Toxic

Plastics are derived from the by-products of petroleum and cannot be digested or decomposed by any micro-organism making plastics non-biodegradable.

Harmful Chemicals in Traditional Toothpaste

Traditional toothpaste contains Brilliant Blue FCF and Helidone Pink that are not only harmful to marine life, but they also remain in water and soil even after passing through sewage systems. Sodium pyrophosphate promotes algae growth causing an increase of CO2 released causing marine life to slowly suffocate and die.

Product Waste

Not only are plastic toothpaste tubes bad for the environment, but there's also a good chance you might not be getting your money's worth, with up to 10% of the toothpaste remaining when you think the tube is empty. Manufacturers do this on purpose. It's all designed to make you buy a replacement tube sooner'.

One of the criticisms of recycling is that most items

don’t actually get reclaimed.
