Faces of Faith this week:
Shadrach, Meshach, & Abednego Daniel 3

Many of the stories that we have heard in the “Faces of Our Faith” series so far have held up people who said “No” to those in power in order to say “Yes” to God. Maybe the creators of the series didn’t realize the common thread… or maybe, they realized that sometimes we need to be told a message a few times before we can apply it to our own lives. Saying “No” when society urges us to say “Yes” is not easy, especially if it puts us under fire like Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego (literally) experience. We need as much reminding and encouragement as we can find if we are to do this in our own lives.

Holy God, when You call us to walk in paths that divert from the well-traveled ways of the world, give courage to our steps by joining us in the journey. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

WONDERING...
Real questions from real people to learn more about faith
What does it mean to have faith? On a surface level, we often talk about “faith” as being synonymous with “belief”, which makes faith a matter of conviction or recognition – primarily a mental activity. Yet, the Greek word for faith (pistis) actually goes quite a bit deeper than that. Pistis can mean trust, which connotes deep emotional and relational attachment to another being. Pistis can also be translated as faithfulness or fidelity, which brings action into the mix. Therefore, to have faith is more than a mental acknowledgement of truth; it is a deep, lived-into connection between God and us.

Thank you note received

Chris Chippas, Barb Anderson, and myself designed and started the Mother's Garden. Thank you so much for continuing to care for it and improve it. It is such a delightful and welcoming area when we walk and visit Third Street.

May God continue to bless others by it. I love how the original fountain is still there as a planter.
With gratitude, Renée Lotz

GLC neighbor and member, Bobbi Schoenenberger came by the office to place her Mother's Garden brick order!
Bidding farewell to Pastor Brittany (soon heading to CO) and Vicar Amber (later heading to MN) with an afternoon get together on Third Street.
Non-perishables set up, 350+ produce bags filled, innumerable boxes broken down, tables sanitized, floors swept. All in just TWO HOURS! #generouslifeinChrist
CAMP-firmation was a time of learning and fun! Special thanks to our teen leaders Braden and Kaitlyn.
We had double the JOY on Saturday as we welcomed Margaret Wanda, daughter of Eric and Jennifer Tuinenga, who joined us through the waters of baptism in the morning.
And then in the afternoon, we welcomed Palmer Jo, daughter of Louis and Ashley Girard. Congratulations to these precious little ones and their families!
Send pictures of how you are living your #generouslifeinChrist to Margo. Thank you!
